Which top laner is a solid counter to kennen?

I played pantheon against him, went 4/1 against him in lane, but by no means is pantheon a counter to him. Kennen has wayyyyy more rangeon his Q than pantheon does.

Basically everything, because Kennen has zero kill potential on any competent player on any top champion.

I beat him but it wasnt easy. He had alot of range and he has alot of movement speed, no mana, ranged basic attack. I like solid counters. Like I love how hard pantheon counters fiora, how hard voli counters pantheon. How hard rammis and teemo counter tryndamere. I like being able to delete my enemy laner so bad they cant do anything even from the start

This is why I don't like top lane much even though I do it a lot. This "counter pick no matter WHAT" mind set means that if you're 1st-2nd pick you better hope someone's willing to swap pick orders with you or you're AA based tank for the team will have to face a damn teemo.

Also why I love me some Sion MID. First/ 2nd pick Sion MID and the enemy top will 90% of the time try to pick a counter who will then be counter picked by my top. Many people love to pick ASN champs mid and most of them suck ass late game if they can't get kills early or roam without having their tower taken.

I don't know about Counter...

but Malphite is pretty solid.

And I've heard Badministrator say Amumu "try to be a solid dude".

the biggest mistake i see people make when playing against kennen is that they play way too passively. Play a bruiser, get some early MR and just run punish him for even existing. He's not that bad just stop letting him poke you

Well I tried to poke him down with my Q but its almost if he was scripting to know exactly what my Q range was. Anyway, he would just run whenever I tried to get near him. But he had no issues poking me when I farmed. I want a solid counter

one does not simply engage kennen in a poke war

you need to get on that ass.

Pantheon's Q out-ranges Kennen's auto attack

Mages with sustain and who do well with Spirit Visage can easily push Kennen out of lane. Some of these include Vladimir Swain They have the sustain, the range, and currently spirit visage is amazing on both of them, so rushing a cowl early doesn't set you behind like it would with someone else.

Ryze Should work well.

Gragas Has great sustain and can farm well. Also ult works to get Kennen's ult off you and your team later.

Darius Irelia Both can duel him fairly well. Once you see him Q just jump on him and punish. The early game abuse is important with these two if you want to get ahead.

Chogath Easy farm. OP sustain. Unable to be bursted by kennen after you get a couple stacks of feast.

Galio Always a great hard counter to mage lanes.

Hope this helped :)

Ekko Gnar Fizz Maokai Olaf Pantheon Poppy Rengar Riven Trundle

Those are all good options, to varying degrees.

The trick is to trade with him as much as you can, and without having to run directly at him and into his abilities! He can't heal himself and has to combo his abilities together for his damage then wait for the CDs in order to do it again. So jump on him after he uses something to get CS or misses a skillshot on you, and back off before he can get his own full combos off. Then if he uses his surge or whatever his little lightning ball ability is called to catch up to you for some more trade just turn again cause at that point he will have nothing more to trade with, pre-6 at least.

Keeping the pressure up and avoiding his barrage of skillshots is really all you have to do. Rengar is my favorite counter cause Kennen is rather squishy so an easy target if you get ahead, and you can sit in a bush where he'll have to guess for skillshots, and you can CS or jump on him for an easy and quick trade from that same bush. Also no mana, so you don't have to worry about conserving resources against an energy champion.
