Is your map awareness garbage? Do you get camped? Do you lose hard to roams? | Solution!

So my friend gave me a great idea on how to improve map awareness. Use an online metronome. Set the BPM to 20 to 30. At each click or every other click, look down at your map. It's a common practice for pro players to actively check their mini map consistently. Although this may not be a new idea for some, I recently found it and has immensely helped improve my games.

Yeah, I heard about that, it's a good tip. Another good tip is to play a champ that needs map awareness because they're squishy or have a global ult.

Yes! My higher elo friends made me play Shen and TF for a while to improve my map awareness. They said to me "Play this champ, don't be useless"

Some of the reasons roaming fucks up people hard is because towers serve 0 protection.

This - a thousand times this.

Towers serve as enough protection. If you find yourself being dived too often, try to work on when and why you back at certain times. Good wards and catching missing lanes early will give you more than enough time to position for a dive or just get the hell out of there. After all, early dives are hard to pull off correctly and later dives are made possible by a team not knowing when to back the fuck off. If 10 of the most efficient players in the world have to respect each others towers then you know they are balanced. The player is responsible for using them the best they can.

Just to add to this a bit more, it takes roughly 30 seconds to walk back to the outer turret in lane without boots. If you time your backs well, you shouldn't miss many minions (The true goal is just to stay ahead of your lane opponent). On top of that, when you see a missing lane, backing will force them to either continue with the gank and hard shove tower or forfeit time/exp/gold from their own lane. Thus giving your lanes time to catch up or gain more of a lead. A good junfler will also be forced to reveal them self by holding the lane for solo EXP and lane gold or have an unsuccessful gank all while you walk back to lane with full resources and pretty new items.

Or you can buy item 2043

That helps how? If you are not checking the map periodically, how are you going to see what the ward reveals?

Or play support. Or jungle

I'm a support and still have god awful map awareness. Checkmate.

Monkey With Guns1 votes

I think jungle should be the player looking at the map the MOST. After all, jungle is more about playing the map rather than the role/champ.

Dude, this is great. I'm a musician/composer and don't mind metronomes at all.. I'm going to give this a try. My map awareness isn't great, but it could always use work!

Look at the map every time you go for a creep, and when you're alone in lane and csing, look at the map, not the cs
