Galio: Has Riot Forgotten Him?
A while back, some Rioters mentioned that they had experimental changes to Galio's passive or at least ideas for it. That was some time last year, if not the year before, and I don't think we've heard anything since then about Galio. We all know what his passive does; he gets 25% of his MR as AP. it's alright cause it encourages him to be picked into other mages, but it is kind of underwhelming, which I think was the major complaint when they were talking about him last.
You'd think a mage who has a Q that does more damage with a more powerful slow and lower mana cost and a lower cooldown than Lux's E at all ranks would be more popular to play. His bulwark isn't bad either, since it can be used on allies while still healing Galio or being placed on himself to up his AP since it also increases MR while healing him (nice). The damage on his righteous gust and idol aren't bad either, and his ultimate can change a team fight in an instant, so what's the problem?
He's slow. His Q is slow moving unless he's on top of his target, his bulwark is usually used too late to be useful when it matters (unless there's a DoT), his gust is fairly easy to avoid, and his ultimate requires him to be in melee range. More often than not, he flashes or flanks to accomplish this unless his opponents run at him. It's also usually interrupted or gotten out of with ease. A flashing Galio can still miss a jumping Tristana or shifting Ezreal, and if he taunts a Garen with Q up or if he misses anyone with any kind of ranged CC, the damage is suddenly gone from his ult and so is the durability that comes with it. He's so slow and predictable but he doesn't even come with a bounty of CC or reliable damage. Nautilus has more reliable CC for how slow he is and mages like Lux can pump out more reliable damage than Galio can while being a bit safer, so he inhabits this grey area where he's between the two and doesn't feel like he quite fits anywhere. What's odd is that he is encouraged to get hit by the enemy team by taunting enemies... Sounds like he'd wanna build armor instead and ignore MR, which completely negates his passive.
tl;dr I'd like Riot to comment about Galio or at least hear what other people think about
. I personally think he needs some quality changes, like giving his righteous gust a dash so he can get into the enemy team without needing to use his flash and making his Q maybe a bit faster and more reliable. There's a poll for what you think Galio needs (or doesn't need). Post suggestions and thoughts; I wanna know what other people think about him.
