I've played Azir mid and been outplayed or countered numerous times (I do admit i need to work on my tactics with him) but havevhad some good results from Azir top. Which begs the question, with how Azir's kite works, i feel he is more of a top lane pick. While not tanky or bruiser like, he could be made into an AP tank that can possible destroy many top lane picks due to them having to close in but still be wary of the Soldiers. Opinions?
Son Olivia Hye1 voteswhen he first came out people played him top and built ROA and Nashor's tooth on him before the nerfs. For me I still use Nashors tooth but I just get rylais instead of Rod of Ages. And looking at your most recent match with Azir, you're building him wrong. Don't get will of the ancients and spirit vissage. What you need is Nashor's tooth, crystal scepter, sorcerer boots, hourglass, death cap, void staff. I find these items work best on Azir.

FadedFreezy1 votesAzir is an interesting champion I was trying to use him as support. I'll be entirely honest I was just looking for somewhere other than mid lane to use him. Won a few games, team mates are never happy with the choice or to hear I was experimenting with Azir. Yet to touch him as his new changes. I say continue to test out Azir, track your win rate and note your match ups, builds etc.. You may be on to something or you may not, only one way to find out. Though I would not use this in ranked game play until your testing phase is over and you 100% understand the capabilities of this and if it is viable at all.
The only problem I can see from this is that it may create an AP heavy team, so always take into consideration your team composition before making an unorthodox selection such as Azir for top. Post again if you get results, make sure to track all matches of this tho!
