So I just won 9 out of 10 placement games, and I carried most of them. I'm no pro, I was only up n silver 2 last season, but I figure if I'm winning 9 of 10 I should be placed a little higher than Bronze 1. Anyone care to explain the MMR or LP system? The order: first 5 wins, 6th game was a loss, then the rest of the 4 were wins.

No matter how good you do, the rank system will ALWAYS place you somewhat lower than your rank last season. It's just how it works.
In solo/duo, I went 8-2 and went from P5 to G1.
In flex, I went 5-5 and got placed silver 1.
You need to do well to get placed even near where you were last season. From my experience, it also raised my MMR.
Be defualt, everyone is lower because the highest you can get placed is Plat 1, when theres diamond, masters, and challenger players. Everything just trickles down. It wouldn't be a ladder if you didn't have to climb :P
