It's funny how ranked is supposed to be about skill expression

But 9/10 of my past games have had a troll on either side who either feeds the other team or afk's, only to come back and feed the other team. I haven't been able to do much in any of games, or I either stomp out the whole enemy team because of this. There is no chance for skill expression or for me to actually show why I belong in that elo, all there is is a flip of a coin to see who gets the troll...

i win a game when i got autofilled as support, i went 2-10 as zyra yet win. The game after i got my role as top laner and i was urgot went 16-8 somehow lost game cause 2 of my teams sucks.

That how games work for me so far.

To be completely honest with you, a typical high elo player isn't gonna have a win rate over 60%... Let me share three things that someone once told me.

1.) If you're playing off your main role, using a champ you don't play often, or at a win rate that's below 50%, then the blame is on you. Period.

2.) If your win rate is under 55%, then you need to pace yourself, talk less in games, and work on your macro (perfecting your pick(s)

3.) If your win rate is over 55% and you've played a ton of games with that pick... Then you are already climbing because you're winning over half your games. It just doesn't feel good to win 3 games and lose 2. Remeber, if you're at the magic number that still means 40-45% of your games are un-winnable. So, if you're on this path just de-stress and move along to the elo you truly deserve.

Yeah, if Riot could do anything to reduce the influence of trolls, that would be great.

Besides that, try to actually enjoy the game. Grinding for rank isn’t worth it if you didn’t have fun. Sometimes, you play a good game and it’s just not enough, but that’s not on you, even if you review the video with your high-elo friend and he notes a couple moments where you could have turned the game. That 3/8 Skarner shouldn’t have been rage-farming Krugs while Baron was up.

If you play an amazing game and still lose, then forget the match outcome and feel good about it. You did well. If you go 20/7/15 every game, you will climb. Try to go 20/5/15—shutdowns are a pain.

almost everyone: ranked is based on skill and how well you perform! me: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/R80VYN6eObU/maxresdefault.jpg

i believe riot hires players to purposely sabotage ranked games.

See the thing is, if this comment was posted in season 3, it wouldn't be any much true or untrue than it is now. Just something you have to grind through.

You win some you lose some. You cost some games and other people cost you some games. You carry some games and get carried other games. Such is life.

Hmm... surprised no one has pointed out the obvious here. You're in D5. A good portion of D5 is literally just putting in games not to decay and aren't actually trying anymore. Have you thought about asking Caretaker Exams to coach you? I think yall could do great things togetherr XD

I kinda can't help but upvote. This has traditionally been my gripe with leegs for a long time.

I can do extremely well, stay cool-headed, support team, make plays, for several games in a row and lose them all because teams are just too damn heavy. Too heavy. My last game (admittedly I didn't do spectacular) my yi was just so immensely heavy that every single time we got a break (aced enemy team, killed key enemies), he just went and died. He stayed apart from team as often as he possibly could, went 1v4/5 fights several times, and was just probably just one of the worst players I've ever seen.

Now I get it, I'm in silver and new players are going to happen.... why aren't they happening like that on the enemy team? I mean their entire team was at least able to not feed. Their team was well rounded and overall really decent. I had at least two players on my team that felt brand new to the game.

So idk. I don't know what to do sometimes tbh. I play pretty well most the time and I've felt that my experience and ability would at least help me climb to an above average status but apparently, after five years of playing this game, I'm just as good as a brand new player.

In my opinion the skill ladder represents general game knowledge rather than skill .. specially as a support main.

and also the tilt-proof abiliy [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

so good luck in your climb and keep giving the 100% of your potential .. if challenger players can maintain high ranks through consecutive seasons then you can reach whatever rank you want

I really think the term 'skill expression' is being slung around more often than it should be. It's like, the new clickbait term for the boards in order to garner attention and upvotes.

You don't need to to win in order to express your skill. You just do. "Skill expression" and trolls are two different issues to be talking about right now. Every moment in a match is an opportunity to express skill. If you're so concerned about a troll or the possibility that there might be one in your match then you aren't skilled.

I mean imagine if your opponents had a 'troll' but you stomped them so hard and when 8/1 before they surrendered at 20:03. Wow bro, you expressed so much skill, I can see it in your KDA. Did you make any cool plays though? Where your plays.tv at? Did you wow anyone on either team? No? Then you didn't express any skill.

As I always say to my friends that wanna get S ranks. Always be making plays.
