Tired of queing solo and getting premades 9-10times.

Team builder gave a solo player the OPTION of waiting for as long as he wanted.

Why was team builder scrapped?

I feel like I'm the only person who hated team builder. Mostly because there were no bans so it was always half the most OP meta picks and half super off meta shit

Teambuilder is like Blind Pick with benefits, if you want bans etc there is always draft.

That's really subjective, I've teamed up with off metas and also played a lot of off metas without waiting more than 10 minutes total.

Still better than having a forced offmeta pick into a match that goes into a flame and troll fest and usually gets the offmeta picker banned.

Downovte all you want, it doesn't change the fact that TB is just a better version of BP and should have stayed.

And remove Blind Pick so that we don't get "too many queues". BP is a toxic wasteland anyway if not for premades which wouldn't get touched by Team Builder being back. Plus TB makes you able to explain your off-meta pick before starting the match which is quite healthy.

you phrased that so poorly and the response was very much out of place

even if you speak a grain of truth in which it does feel like riot forgot the western audience

but like chinese video gamers aren't a monolithic institution.. it's a bunch of dudes (And dudettes) who just want to play league like us.

So this was way back in like 2013. It was the birth of position choosing like before you queue up you can choose a primary and a secondary role. That is what created it. It was better formatted and I'm sure could be back up to date, and it was legit one of the best things that league has ever seen. However since its so old people kinda forgot about it. Definitely on board with the idea.

You could pre-select your position, role (like tank, ap dps, ad dps, support, etc.) and you would be placed in a team which once full would be able to queue up (and you could choose to be the team leader so that others would be able to join your team).

It allowed also to look for teams with double jungler or whatever the case and you could actually discuss things by chat before queueing, giving the players a lot more time to get ready.

Pretty much everything other people said: However, I'd care to let you know about the downsides of the system. Team Builder is started off by a single person, the leader of the team. You could either make one or join one. That means however, that the team leader gets to choose what's played on their team and what is not. They have full control, which means if they don't like your pick, they can choose to not accept you.

Now, also combine how much more popular roles like Top and Mid are, compared to that of Jungler or Support. It was not uncommon to wait upwards of 10 minutes waiting for a Support to join, or to wait 20 minutes waiting to join a team as a Mid/Top laner. And if you wanted to play something off-meta, well, your ability to do that is based on the ability to get into a game without being declined by everyone who doesn't want to play with your "Ashe Toplane" or whatever you want to do.

Meanwhile Supports and Junglers got free-instaques, while everyone else could wait up to 10 minutes. While it was a good idea, it was not perfect like people tend to remember.

What is Team Builder?

Team Builder was a system where you could queue up to play a specific champion for a specific role. If you ran a TB lobby, it would bring up potential players who were in queue at the time and then you could decide whether you wanted to have that teammate on that champion in that role. There was no banning phase and there was no pick phase, so it was essentially blind pick, but if you were in charge of lobby, you could decide who you wanted to have on your team. On the flip side, if you were a solo player, if you got into lobby and didn't like what you saw, you could choose to re-queue until you found a team that you liked.

The best part about TB was that it prevented trolls from holding people hostage in what was essentially the champ select phase. It was pretty nifty. Queue times could be a bit long at times, but were never unreasonable. You also have to keep in mind that this was before there was any positional role selection at all. It wasn't like what it is now.

Logged in just to upvote this. As a player since season 4 I would rather wait long to have a troll-less team rather than dodge and lose 20 lp cause someone wants to int pre game.

I kinda wish blind pick and most of the rotating game modes were team builder

hell in theory team builder could have 'bans' in which you select a champ to ban and the lobby owner would just take that into consideration when picking you (If they even care)

As someone who plays off-meta quite a bit, this would be enough to lead me to quit the game. Waiting 30+ minutes to play, and then getting flamed for being off-meta anyways doesn't sound like a good time at all.

That is literally the problem. Waiting 30 minutes for someone to pick you up and then having them flame you anyways would not be fun.

Team builder didnt work in practice and was only good on paper, i could not find ANY games even when the system was new in a reasonae time. And if i have to wait for 10-20 for a single game because someone didnt like my pick, then i'd rather just play something else.

Because some IDIOTS started complaining about waiting in a long queue to win a match and not get stuck with a bunch of autofills. Then these same people start complaining about AUTOFILL, and why Riot removed Team Builder.
