Changing how we search for champions.
I'm thinking of while in champion select instead of searching just champion names we can sort them into groups ourselves such as carry mages tank tops and sort them by our favorites in these roles.

I like this idea a lot
Check out LSI (League Summoner Information). You can do this and many more commonly suggested things using that program. I've been using it for about a year now and can't imagine going back to playing League without it.
searching the primary roles as keywords (marksman, support, etc.) will already bring up their respective champions. unfortunately some of these tags are less useful then others but it does help cut down the growing list of champions.
personally i would like to have those role keywords improved on, like maybe adding juggernaut as a tag, rather then making my own groups. i think that would also help game clarity.
