I reached level 30 2 days ago and never bought any runes and still haven't bought any runes or play a ranked match yet. I've just been playing normal blind pick summoner's rift. I find it difficult to play against the enemy team who keep showing up as level 30 ranked players. Do you think I should've bought runes after i turned level 30 to make it easier because ever since I reached level 30 its been harder for me to play summoners rift because all i have are masteries. and I can't get my kills like i did before i reached level 30

When I started playing League I started with bots, then moved up to normal games. As I was leveling up I didn't buy any runes while I was playing during the (bot games stage) Around level 20 You should start buying runes with you Lp that you saved up as you move on to normal games. If you played and leveled up to LV 30 you should start to buy them. Runes are very important to the Champions kit that you wish to play as.

Yes, you need runes. You're basically going into lane at an 800 gold deficit compared to other players because of all those stats.

Just get Armor seals, MR glyphs, MS quints, and then AD and magic pen marks. You can use those to make one page for AD champs and one page for AP champs and be covered pretty well for most situations.

For the champions you play most (Tryn-Yas-Yi) I'd recommend you just get Attack speed quints AD reds flat armor yellows magic resist blues

once you have a lot IP you have room to play around with like crit damage runes, cdr blues stuff like that but youll likely most often need the ones i suggested (that's also an ADC page if you ever go bot lane)

Well I play every lane so I just need to know what runes are best for which lane instead of by champs so that I can use it for all top champs all mid all adc and so on.

Well I mean there aren't really lane specific runes. Runes come down to what you need for that specific game. Like if you're against and AD champion in lane and they don't have much AP then you'd obviously want CDR blues over MR, or alternatively if their team is fairly AP heavy taking scaling hp yellows over flat armor yellows could be beneficial. If they're tanky and you're an AD champ you can take armor pen reds instead of flat ad. Your lane doesn't decide your runes (except adc, They're almost always the same no matter the matchup)

But I mean its not like you can choose your runes after you find out who your opponents are so you can't really pick runes for that champ if you don't know what you're up against. Thats why i was wondering if there's lane runes

You can't change the pages in champ select but you can switch between pages, just can't edit them unfortunately. Most higher elo players have 20 pages to choose from.

I recommended you that specific page because it seems most relevant to the champions you play.

With the new Role selection that League has now you can set up your runes easier now against your opponents. So if you want to play top/jungle you can set up pages for the match ups much easier.
I recommend having at least 5 Rune pages for each role top-jungle-mid(AP)-support-Adc
you want to play Top you select top/jungle, with 5 pages you can set up accordingly to your lane match up.
Same thing for each role after each game, say you want to play adc after you played top last game you switch and swap your runes out on all 5 rune pages and switch them all being different.

THIS IS JUST MY RUNES THAT I USE I KNOW IT MAY SEEM ODD BUT IT WORKS OUT RENKETON-Maokai-Malphite-Rammus-Cho'gath-shen.(TANKS- Mainly AD) Armor reds Scaling HP yellows Scaling MR blues Flat Armor Q's ( by already being a super tank at start and one that scales you can build 1-2 dmg items at start of the game but also being a tank to begin with.
Wukong-JAX-GANGPLANK-Riven-GAREN(BRUISERS) AD reds 4-Scaling HP yellows/5Flat Armor Scaling MR blues AD Q's ( Poke champions that snowball of a small lead, getting early dmg off can win you the game and snowball the rest of the game.)

Passive farm heavy AP champions ( Magic pen reds Scaling Hp Yellows Scaling MR blues 1.hp Q's 2 AP Q's { Veigar-Anivia-Ryze} May also be good to bring TP and flash on them as their main focus is to keep mid tower up and just farm 24/7 for the first 20-30 mins}
Standard ( Magic pen reds Scaling hp yellows AP Blues 3 AP Q's { Malzahar-Annie-Orianna }
Aggressive (Magic pen reds Scaling hp yellows Cooldown per level Blues 3 AP Q's { Very deadly if you can do it right but if behind will be a double edged sword} { Can be used on every AP mid laner}

ADC Farm heavy Att Dmg reds Flat armor yellows Scaling MR blues Att speed Q's
KILLER Att Dmg reds Flat armor yellows flat MR blues Att Dmg Q's Farm Heavy/Killer Att Dmg reds Flat armor yellows 4 mana regen blues/5 flat MR blues 1 HP Q"s/ 2 Att Speed Q's

Yes, it would have been a good idea. You could even have been buying them all along as well if you wanted; they are useful.

Runes are very necessary now that you are level 30. Runes provide small, but significant statistical advantages for your champion and improve their performance. As you have noticed, you have been playing with a bit of a handicap since you are playing without them.

I don't how much IP you have for runes so to start with, I recommend you buy Flat AD Marks and Flat Armor Seals to start with because they are cheap and good on everyone, because every champion autoattacks and every champion get hit by autoattacks.

I can't say for sure why they thought that advice was best though. Maybe they think they wouldn't be enough to make a difference. Maybe they thought before 30 you wouldn't face many people who bought runes. I don't know.

It could be that they were misunderstanding the old advice for new players which was for years "Save your IP and never buy runes. Save up for Tier 3 runes (Level 20)". The ideas coming from that advice still get repeated even though that situation simply doesn't exist in the game anymore.

For this account, I bought a rune each level from level 1 because Tier 1 Runes are practically free. They are not great post-30 but there wasn't any reason for me not to buy them when I couldn't get Tier 3s.

There are a few rune sets I consider to be staples.

Flat Armor Yellows
Flat Magic Resist Blues

The type of champions you play determine what you buy first. If you're a melee bruiser type then you want flat Attack Damage reds and Attack Damage quints, and if you play a marksman than you can get Attack Speed quints instead.

If you're more of a mage player than you want Magic Penetration reds and Ability Power quints.

Once you start to have general pages that work for a wide variety of champions, you can begin to customize the pages with other runes to your liking. For instance you can pick scaling runes if you prefer gaining stats each time you level up or swap out armor with health.
