[Boards poll] Should aram be truly random?

Pale Pirate··2 votes·308 views

When an ARAM game is found, the matchmaking avoids mirror matches (i.e. if someone on the purple team get Katarina, no one on the blue team will be given Katarina).

Is this a good idea? I mean, first of all the rarer a champion is, the most likely it is for you to get him if you own him. Secondly, prohibiting a mirror match is a feature of competitive modes. Why would ARAM have it?

I think with the prevalence of ARAM only accounts that game diversity in ARAM will always be low.

Due to the lack of distinct ranked and normal queue options, the ARAM queue is simultaneously competitive and uncompetitive. As such, arguing that ARAM shouldn't prohibit mirror matches because it's a competitive feature doesn't make sense.

No, aram is clearly noncompetitive (which is what I said). This is supported by the unbalanced team composition and the infrequent updates, I don't think there's any arguing when it comes to this.

Not quite. Since there aren't separate ranked and normal queues, both hardcore and casual players are forced into the same queue. As such, the single ARAM queue is both competitive and noncompetitive, depending on personal perspective.

Both teams are given random (for the most part, ignoring ARAM-only accounts) champs. That's pretty much as close to balanced team comps (over the long run) as possible. Furthermore, infrequent updates only mean that the mode isn't well-supported, not that it's noncompetitive.
