Hello guys.

I AM NOT THE AUTHOR OF THIS REWORK. I found it on the internet as a PDF file. There was no author listed on the PDF file so if the author sees this topic, just let me know I will edit the topic. EDIT : THE AUTHOR IS MESSAIGA !

Keep in mind that it is a CONCEPT REWORK of Aatrox. The author explained that the goal of this rework is to make Aatrox a "healthy" champion who can, be buffed / nerfed etc. The author considers that current Aatrox can not be buffed because of his W sustain. I don't know how to share the PDF therefore I will just show you the change-list, for the sake of of clarity (the PDF file is 4 pages long with 2 pages being an analysis of Aatrox problems/gameplay/explanations about the rework etc).

EDIT : blockquote doesn't work, I had to remove them, sorry :(

EDIT 2 : the author is Messaiga, so all credits goes to him :=)

NUMBERS ARE NOT DEFINITIVE. I'M FULLY AWARE THAT THIS REWORK MIGHT BE TOO WEAK OR TOO STRONG. THEY ARE ONLY HERE TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW HIS ABILITIES WORK.

Change-list :

Base stats :

Health increased to 570.8. Attack speed increased to .679.

Abilities :

Passive – Blood Well : Attack speed steroïd removed from Blood Well (moved to his E).

Q – Dark Flight : Cooldown reduced to 14/13/12/11/10 (down from 16/15/14/13/12). Ennemies hit by Dark Flight are now briefly stun. Aatrox still knock up ennemies in the epicenter. Faster animation (+25%).

W – Blood Thirst (COMPLETELY REWORKED) : Whenever Aatrox deals physical damage to an ennemy, he applies a stack of Cursed Blood for 4 seconds. An ennemy can have up to 5 stacks of Cursed Blood on them at once. Upon activation, Aatrox draws in the blood of nearby ennemies afflected with Cursed Blood, dealing physical damage, healing Aatrox and stealing ennemy champions movement speed for 2.5 seconds. Each stack of Cursed Blood on a target increases the physical damage it receives and the heal Aatrox receives from them. Healing from minions and monsters is reduced by 50%.

Physical damage : 60/90/120/150/180 (+10% bonus AD) [+15% bonus damage per stack]. Heal per target : 10/20/30/40/50 (+1% per Aatrox's missing health) [+25% bonus heal per stack]. Movement speed steal : 20/25/30/35/40%. Range : 800. Cooldown : 14/13/12/11/10 seconds.

E – Blood Price / Impalement (COMPLETELY REWORKED) : This ability has a passive and an active. Blood Price is passive. Blood Price no longer has an HP cost on hit. Bonus damages and AD bonus ratio unchanged.

Active – Impalement : Aatrox's next basic attack grants bonus attack speed for 4 seconds and pierces through the primary target, dealing physical damage to the target and opponents behind it in a line. This attack can apply Blood Price's bonus physical damage to all ennemies struck. This attack procs On-Hit effects.

Physical damage : 80/85/90/95/100% of Aatrox's total AD. Bonus attack speed : 40/55/70/85/100%. Cost : 5% current HP. Range : 150/600. Cooldown : 8/7.5/7/6.5/6 seconds.

IMPORTANT NOTES : Impalement is an auto-attack modifier which resets Aatrox's attack timer on cast and procs On-Hit effects on the primary target (BOTRK, Tiamat/Hydra, Wit's End etc). Impalement has 2 range values because it works the exact same way as Lucian's Piercing Light ability. Spellblade items (Lich Bane, Runeglaive, Trinity Force, Sheen and Iceborn Gauntlet) will only do bonus damages to the primary target. Aatrox's ultimate, Massacre, increases his attack range. It fully works with Impalement. During Massacre, Impalement range is changed to 325/775.

R – Massacre (PARTIAL REWORK) : Aatrox draws in the blood of his foes, dealing magic damages to all nearby ennemies. Aatrox also inspires bloodlust in his allies, causing Aatrox and nearby allied champions to gain bonus lifesteal and spell vamp. Additionally, Aatrox gains bonus attack range and his basic attacks deal 66% of their physical damage to enemies surrounding his target.

Magic damage : 150/200/275. Bonus lifesteal : 10%. Bonus spellvamp : 10%. Bonus attack range : 175. Range : 650. Cooldown : 100/85/70.

Credits goes to Meisaiga :=)

Definitely a more interesting kit than what Aatrox has now and much easier to balance.

I always felt like Aatrox's passive should work more like Anivia's. Resurrecting with low health and no blood well is pretty much a guarantee that you're going to just die again.

Well I was actually talking about his current ult being meh I like yours a lil better but I still prefer his e to stay maybe add a stun to the tip so if u time it well u get a small form of cc

That's not bad idea small debuff like armor shred bringing up his lore maybe impaling people should be his ult maybe a suppression ult impale them and they can't move for 1.5-2.5 seconds as he pulls out his sword giving home a lifesteal buff during impalment

Ok after some thought some things are good ideas but to me his ult seems very underwhelming it feels like a weak aoe ability when I use it I feel no power like an ult was used

This champion must not be changed. I love it like he is, and he is totally viable and really strong. People must just know how to play him, before crying. http://www.lolking.net/summoner/euw/31713500#ranked-stats

My main since s3

The author of this rework concept happens to be me (aside from a few tweaks that it appears to me you threw in). I'm glad you brought some visibility of it onto the official boards, when I tried to do that it just sunk to the bottom. I've always been a fan of Aatrox, I love the character himself over his gameplay. My understanding of him right now is that his early game is decently strong and he has a downward spiral from there, making him snowball reliant. Playing him while behind is not enjoyable at all in my experiences with him. The overall goal in this rework concept was

  • To create a thematic kit for Aatrox that is possible to be balanced, fun to play as, and have enough counterplay and windows of power that it doesn't feel like hell playing versus him.
  • Create a niche that only Aatrox can fill (Team-fighting bruiser centered around auto-attacks, healing, and providing potential to turn around fights through team-wide healing).
  • Eliminate the toxic element of his kit (free, infinite sustain with no cooldown).

Personally, I tend to stray away from numbers on things such as CC, damage, and healing since it's hard to predict how people would react to it (where-as with just a concept a viewer would only have to think about how well it works for the character, and the synergy of spells and items with the kit).

Also, mind linking the PDF? I never posted a PDF, unless posts on Reign of Gaming can show up like that.
