Solo vs Duo for ranking up!

I am finding that a solo q is way faster to lvl up then a duo. Is this something other people are seeing. I like playing my my friends but i lose way more with them then with out! Any opinions that might help me keep moving up or ideas to help solve my group issues! thanks
