Matchmaking Guide

Quote: "Ultimately, we’d rather you wait a little longer in the queue to get a fairer match, but we know waiting in a queue is probably the least fun part of League."

This quote is summarizes the reason why many people are choosing to quit LoL. No, the worst part about the game is unfair matches.

Reasons why matches are uneven:

  • players get auto-filled into a role they cannot play
  • its too easy to pay to boost an account without getting caught
  • queue times are too short

These three problems are easy to fix.

The first problem can be fixed by:

  • supports players are guaranteed their positions (i.e., no more support mains feeding in mid lane)
  • players can never get auto-filled into top, mid, or ADC (i.e., no more jungle mains feeding as ADC)
  • finding ways to allows support players to have a larger impact on the game (i.e., good support players should be able to carry games more so than now)

The second problem can be fixed by using statistical algorithms to detect when players have unusually large spikes in the performance in a single game. The algorithm can look at KDA, relative CS, and sudden changes in champion pool. To avoid banning smurf accounts, Riot could very easily allow a smurf account to be bound to their primary account. Bound accounts will not get banned for boosting as long as the second account's MMR is not too much higher then the primary account's MMR.

The third problem can be fixed by making queue times longer in favor of fairer matches and position preference.

If these three problems are not addressed, no champion release or skin, no matter how amazing, will generate revenue for Tencent because the game itself is too unfun and frustrating for players to want to invest their money into.

People don’t want the problems fixed, they would rather matchmaking stay broken so they can claim it is rigged against them.

Riot solved the problem of players getting autofilled into roles they can’t play with position based rankings. Players no longer got autofilled into rankings they couldn’t play. The community flipped out and forced riot to revert the change.

To avoid banning smurf accounts So basically you hate when someone from low elo gets boost and gets matched in your elo, yet you have no problem if a high elo player would go into low elo to ruin those player's games? That is the issue, someone wouldn't need to get a boost if he'd be able to climb normally against players from his own elo. The main issue of matchmaking is smurfing and that leads to people needing elo boosting just so they'd get higher because if they get matched with high elo player in the enemy team and low elo player in their team, it would be so much better if they'd just get matched with high elo players only

supports players are guaranteed their positions (i.e., no more support mains feeding in mid lane) players can never get auto-filled into top, mid, or ADC (i.e., no more jungle mains feeding as ADC)

so basically you want people to only get autofilled into jungle, which by the way is the most impactful role and seems to be the most difficult to most people.

finding ways to allows support players to have a larger impact on the game (i.e., good support players should be able to carry games more so than now)

support is already the second most popular role at many elos and is one of the most impactful roles, fuck off will ya

The second problem can be fixed by using statistical algorithms to detect when players have unusually large spikes in the performance in a single game.

so you made boosters play proxy trynd / singed and int sion, don't think that's going to improve the low elo experience at all.
