[POLL] What should kind of adversary should Baron be?

Recently, posts about baron dying way too quickly have been popping up. Since baron buff has been recently buffed to "inspired the Icathian weapon" status (shout out to the new lore!), I feel it's important that the purpose of Baron himself (not the buff) is established.

Some might feel that Baron himself should be a monster worthy of the power he bestows upon his slayers: a raid boss that is immensely though to take down, and dishes out some serious hurt. In this case, Baron would demand at least 4 members, two of whom can tank damage, at least one who has good DPS, and at least one who can give sustain, either through healing or shielding, and they would need 30 seconds to 1 minute to do the fight. For this option to be viable, Riot would need to make the Baron fight much more interactive so people aren't feeling bored for the length of time required. This also makes Baron an end reward for teams with good macro play, who can set up and take Baron uncontested, for a Baron this strong would make a contesting team's life much easier.

Others might feel Baron shouldn't be a pushover, but shouldn't be monstrously difficult: committing the whole team is a risk, and that risk should be aptly rewarded. Sending 3 members should be able to take down baron in respectable time, maybe 25-45 seconds, so long as you have a good combination of champions. Sending the entire team would allow you to take it down in maybe 15-30 seconds, but that's a commitment.

I also see the argument that Baron shouldn't be that difficult to take: the difficulty of taking the buff ought to come from your opponent, not from Baron. Small groups of champions might be able to take Baron, and it is the duty of the opposing team to prevent this from happening, not the Baron himself. In this case, Baron's lore would (likely, in my opinion) need to be rewritten, considering he's supposed to be a terror on the rift, not some pet to be protected by champions.

Honestly, I think Baron is too weak right now for the stats and buff to minions it gives.

One idea to make Baron stronger it to make it start out taking 70% reduced damage from champions that is 10% weaker for each champion present. That would make it much harder to solo or duo, but fine to do as a team. The interesting part is that it doesn't take full damage unless at least 7 are present, which makes it more exciting to contest.

If you have 30 seconds to a minute of free time, then you should just push down an inhibitor. Baron is just a buff to help you siege inhibitor turrets.

The problem is not that baron has become weaker. Rather it is the issue of the insane power creep from the runes changes imo. He needs a compensating buff, definitely.

At this point, elder dragon is tougher than baron lol.

I'm extremely disappointed to see the "raid boss" option getting such a huge portion of the votes. If players want a large PvE experience, go play another game.

As a "only last hit matters" buff, i.e. it's contestable, having it be a raid boss just doesn't make sense. No one would EVER take it. It's only worthwhile after a clean ace with at least 30 seconds downtime, at which point you could easily take an inhibitor + possibly base towers.

The decent opponent is reasonable. A full team that's fed finishing in 15 seconds, up to 30 seconds if you're sneaking it from behind with less than a full team, seems more reasonable. It gives time to respond when you realize you're lacking vision when ahead. It's short enough that you can force it after a won fight while there are still enemies dead. It's probably not going to destroy your team's health bars.

I agree that Baron may be too easy now, but he simply can't be a raid boss. He'd never be worth taking unless the buff literally guaranteed a win (which it could never do). Right now a good Baron play gets you 2 inhibitors, and the average-decent one gets you a single inhibitor. That reward is far too little for a significant risk (easily stolen, teamfight disadvantage, etc...).

It should be like susan. Need at least a tank buffer and adc to take down and gets stronger the more shit he kills.

Baron is too weak for the buff it gives. No one should be able to solo it at any point in the game. Hell if it was up to me then even 3 ppl shouldn't be able to take it down. Baron is an obj that should be taken only after full map control is established. In low elo players dont realize how weak baron actually is so they are scared to death of it even when a vayne and kog are on the same team...
