There are two types of Nemesis Draft Games:

  1. You get a really weird mismatched team. Your teammates talk it out, figure out who's going to build what, and what lanes people are going to be in. There is a lot of fun offmeta builds, and win or lose you all had a pretty decent time.

  2. You get a really weird mismatched team. Your teammates refuse to chat in lobby, only to go into the game to find that 3 people were expecting to be top. They all build the recommended build path, and complain the entire game that they didn't get the champion they liked. Win or lose, you have a horrible time.

You forgot match type 3: the one where the enemies give you an actual team comp for whatever reason.

Attticus Finch13 votes

Yep, the enemy team gave us Morgana, Poppy, Taric, Janna and Thresh. We gave them all squishy utility supports, and I'm a Morgana main.

"Slaughter" doesn't really quite convey what happened.

RocketRelm1 votes

As a fellow Morgana main, I cannot fathom giving somebody her in this mode. I mean, they'll do anything (I've had the enemy team give my team Yasuo/Malphite at one point), I just can't comprehend the mindset.

Count Zubat1 votes

I'd say either masochism or making yourself a kind of challenge: "let's see if we can win against this superior team comp with the shitiest composition enemies can possibly give us".

RocketRelm1 votes

You would think so, but no, there are genuinely people that think 'this is the worst possible champion I could give them'. "Morgana does no damage", "useless support". It's so funny.

"we'll give them all assassin's and adcs then just stack armor with thornmail!" Lost that game like 32-1

You put the laughter back in slaughter

Legacy Hydralpha1 votes

Similar happened to me. Morgana, Poppy, Janna, but Morde and Elise instead. Other team got stuff like Bard, Nunu (went AP), Lulu, Nami, and Blitzcrank.

Spoiler: I was on the other team.

Last year when this gamemode was out, the enemy team picked mine a bunch of semi-squishy heavy disengage supports. Then their last pick gave me a Kog'Maw. I got a pentakill that game, so yeah....

nemesis draft is kindof horrible. Why am I not playing urf right now

A Liberal20 votes

Personally I love Nemesis draft because to have to figure out a strategy with random champions in a 5v5 is really fun, especially when you're forced to do something really out of the ordinary. My favorite thing to do is throw hard to play the first time champions like Kalista and Karthus at them and watch them flounder.

MavenSong2 votes

They gave me karthus and ive hardly even ever played him in bots... I ended the game with 22 kills and less than 9 deaths lol.

It makes me actually tempted to play him more lol.

It Hertz When IP1 votes

Only played one Nem Draft game so far this weekend, they gave my teammate Kalista. She proceeded to go 22/8/11, told us in chat she was seriously considering buying the champion afterwards.

JVP151 votes

I mean, I got Kalista one game and proceeded to tear them a new asshole. 23/4/6. The amount of damage I did was insane.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

I'd prefer if it were actually just random instead of this salt inducing toxic environment it creates. Especially when you get that one asshole who gives the enemy a champ to counter your team then proceeds to troll because hurrdurr fun mode!

How does it increase trolling and salt?? That sounds like normal game modes. If anything URF lets you troll more because you can use champs like Tahm to troll better.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

the less control ppl have over what happens to them the more they tend to troll. It only gets worse when someone else is assigned specifically to troll them

I can't say how true this is, there's not much proof.

just look at aram

many refuse to even try

same in raned for ppl who go through their "its just luck" phase

Had a Heimer yesterday that would ult, on cooldown, behind himself then run into the enemy team and spam taunts while being massacred. "Quit bitching, it's just a fun mode"

It really is annoying.

YCitizenSnipsY1 votes

Actually it isn't, the whole forced into picks doesn't go over to well. I personally think its a horrible mode becasue people pick comps where games last to long, or you have these horrible champions that no one knows how to play and it basically becomes who is the least shit pick in the current meta.

A Liberal1 votes

I **_personally _**think its a horrible mode

we were only promised 2 rounds of URF this year, and Riot delivered. It is one of the biggest and most beloved Extra Mode they have, so they aren't going to risk lowering that luster by having it appear to often, so at best we can expect URF twice a year in the future.

Arakadia3 votes

Alot of people like it. Your not necessarily the majority. URF is hated by a lot of people.

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

I didn't claim to be the majority, I claimed that nemesis draft is a load of shit

Spoofghoul3 votes

so is urf

your point?

CerealBoxOfDoom1 votes

my point is that I said what I said and anyone who says otherwise is a liar

Drahcir2 votes

i personally don't enjoy nemesis draft that much, there isn't enough to distinguish it from the regular game.

PotatoReker2 votes

Or you know have a team comp of Braum Leona Soraka Nami Taric and proceed to cc them to death because supports are "weak" lol

Spoofghoul1 votes

supports are the most overpowered class in the game lol

they can't fall off and are always usefull

GarthBrooksIV1 votes

I like supports that dont take the recommended items

Paletongue1 votes

thats probably the biggest point of the game mode. If your all-support team took recommended items, no one would do damage and you'd have too many wards.

Try AD Bard, Thresh, and Janna. AP works great on most supports, but Nami and Soraka are a couple cool ones. Just played with tank Karthus and he wrecked shit.

PS Yorick isn't bad! Quit giving him out in this mode

Steelflame1 votes

I had a game for my team as 1, enemy team as 2.

I got WW, I went jungle.

Enemy got a Janna jungle. When they had a Nunu on their team.

Lets just say, I got so fed not even their tanks could survive me ulting them, no one lived past the ults. Got a triple at one point rather easily without much effort, even with their mostly support comp trying to peel me.

Sypher The Poro1 votes

So far I've only had type 1, probably due to playing with a 4 man and 5 man party for the only 2 games I've played of it so far.

Game one I got Zilean, along with an AD Bard, Fiddle, Alistar, and tank Zac. Bard got a Pentakill.

Second game I got Gangplank, along with an AD Thresh, Tank Varus, Poppy, and Nidalee. Buddy tried to troll me and gave enemy team Riven, my main. Sadly, Riven didn't know how to play Riven.

notmebuthim1 votes

I just get the guy that has to play shaco, who also had to go top, who then feeds and afk's after 10 minutes. Our jungler also camped his lane.

Seenan1 votes

For some reason, our team gave them a full setup of a team. Poppy, illaoi, morde, janna, and kalista. I dropped the kalista cause she's not really strong atm. They gave us mostly supports and I nearly carried with AP jungle Leona (my team was low elo so the game was, I guess, low elo).

bistroh1 votes

I got Urgot yesterday and it was lots of fun when I would two shot everyone on their team from across the map.

TheSlogs1 votes

I got a pentakill on ADC Janna yesterday. That was pretty fun.

falldown0101 votes

cant imagine that working xD did you have a hard time in lane then ? or was it alright ?

TheSlogs1 votes

We destroyed lane because we gave them all melee champs.

Mysticman891 votes

Janna has a built in ad steroid on her e, and extra move speed from her w. She hence wins the majority of trades between the shield and extra ad, and once she's ahead she can outrun most typical adcs to secure kills.

As far as off-meta adc's go, Janna is a pretty strong choice. I went 28/6/11 as adc janna myself when someone finally gave me janna, but people keep thinking janna is weak for some reason and banning her.

Small Tiddies1 votes

There are also the dumbfucks who give the enemy team galio first pick THEN THE ENEMY TEAM GIVES YOU ALL AP ASSASSINS.

LITERALLY TOLD HIM NOT TO GIVE THEM GALIO. I HATE RANDOMS. //vent

Mylon Requiem1 votes

Alternatively:

  1. Both teams attempt to draft "bad" champions for one another, only to realize that they accidentally give each other legitimate compositions with champion synergy.
AmetDeCrypt1 votes

for me it's just every game "OK LADS BAN THE HEALERS SO THEY DON'T GIVE US SUSTAIN THAT'S SMART" then every game there's an urgot, a yorick, a nunu, and a lulu and whoever can shove those off first because they think they're weak forgets yorick is a goddam monster and whoever gets him usually wins. then everyone goes to their usual lane no matter the champ and proceeds to either feed or get fed because nobody understands that playing safe for a while to learn the champion is probably smart. then we win if one of my mains somehow slipped through the bans and I get to trade with my team. seriously, why are janna/nami/sona/soraka permabans in most other modes for being op and permabans in this mode for... being too bad? I guess?

It Hertz When IP4 votes

Because one of them is really good on a team, but a team composed entirely of sustain supports isn't going anywhere. It's like having a really good engine in your car; might be awesome, but if you replace all the wheels with engines too, you're probably not going anywhere.

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

I'll disagree, we ended up with a team of nothing but supports and I just so happened to get tahm the only tank, we also had nami, sona soraka and one more I don't remember. But their team was all ap so we all built MR and forced a surrender from the enemy

AmetDeCrypt1 votes

true. but I have won with a 5 man support team, just have to diversify to emphasise their various strengths. Nami full sup Nunu tank Bard triforce bruiser Lulu machinegun Janna full ap kite machine

Ozag the Mighty1 votes

I'll agree to this 100%, they gave us Yorick and yasuo and when it came time for trades me and yasuo switched so I became Yorick (almost master 4) and yasuo was a master 7 so it was a good trade, we ended up destroying that match lol.

Mysticman891 votes

Nemesis is bundles of fun when I get to play a champ in an off meta role, but it is somewhat frustrating when people don't stick to a plan for enemy picks (e.g. all ad or all ap, and then you inevitably get 4 ad/ap and 1 ap/ad since it's better to give them a 'weak' champ).

I'm always somewhat annoyed that in about 50% of my matches so far I've found myself playing a champion in it's meta role. I like dominating as janna adc, but I've only had the opportunity to do so once so far. >.<
