@Riot Why did events get like this?

Seriously guys, your first hextech crafting event (PROJECT) was SO GOOD.

The PROJECT crafting event allowed players to get 5 Icons for free, as well as several normal shards. If you wanted to, you could buy more to get more exclusive icons and borders, but you didn't have to to participate in the event. It was pretty much universally liked, and I bet you guys still made a lot of money off of it.

Flash forward to this... "event"

You guys literally just put half ass bonuses in normal chests and called it cool. Two years ago, we would have just had self mystery gifting which was both cheaper and more reliable. It is fully possible with this event for me to get no content that is usable, as shards can be skins for unowned champions, or duplicates of skins you already have. Doesn't it seem silly to buy a minimum of 3 250RP boxes to get a chance at getting something cool when before for like 495 you could just get a garunteed skin for someone you own?

At least snowdown had the icons... but this is just... Greed Revel I guess.

They're trying different types of events to see what flies and what doesn't.

Imo they've done a really good with the Oceanic Event. You get Icons, Items, Champions, the list goes on, without having to pay a cent.

It's however only available to one region, understandably.

Fun fact: That's the reason I gave up on Hearthstone. RNG in expansions, events and everywhere.

At least in this game, you can buy what you want in the store.

Who the hell spends money on RP anyway. If this incompetent company can maybe fix their broken game maybe i'll think of it, MAYBE

They once said they want to shift the events a bit.... Didn't expect the events turn into a huge RNG-fest and a pay to start :/

I enjoy the fact that they went with Red Envelopes, as per usual with Chinese New Year celebrations. I enjoy the fact that they're incorporating the Hextech Crafting System into different events; I'd totally go for it if I had the RP, on account of the mystery within the envelopes and the support I'd be giving Riot. I don't agree on the no content is usable point; however, your opinion is yours and I am in no place to invalidate it.

Yeah I am a bit disappointed with this event too :(

However we do get a free icon(you can get it on the event page),so that is something and it was said that the personal shop is only missing due to the new client,so it will liekely return in the future.

And well I also can't blame riot for trying out different things.
