Something tells me this would be a lot more complicated than people are making it out to be.
Anivia's Q shows the splash at the end of its range, it's not telling you the splash halfway down the line if you happened to activate it early.
Miss Fortune's Q (which for some reason people think this is an accurate comparison) is a point and click. The game is able to easily show the range of the second bullet if you clicked on that specific minion/monster/champion.
Grave's ult is a skillshot, showing you its range and where it's gonna go. I imagine it would be harder for it to predict where it's going to end (think more along the lines of Karma's Mantra + Q. It doesn't cut itself short and show the aoe because there's a champion/minion in it's current path, it just shows you the max range.)
Not saying it's a bad idea or anything.
