Increase in game toxicity with length of Tribunal downtime?

Because as I've played over the past...like..year, I've noticed my games gradually getting more and more trolls, afks, toxic players, and just overall terrible people on my teams. The Tribunal has been "in recess" forever. I know I have personally reported more than enough people to justify opening the Tribunal for case review. If my personal reports enumerate to that amount I guarantee that the whole LoL community has enough reports to open the Tribunal. So what's going on Riot? Because after every game I am more and more considering uninstalling this game that's affiliated with a toxic community.

I have a roommate who's got a suspension right now. He's never been playing since Irelia came out in season 1, and we were talking the other day about tribunal and the new system and what people are saying about it. He told me "You know, everyone used to say all anyone did was hit the 'punish' button in tribunal and that no one ever read the cases, we'll I've been playing for 4 seasons, and I was never 'toxic' until they took the vote from the players." He feels like he's still the same player, and yet when the punish happy tribunal was around he never got in any kind of trouble. Now all the sudden he's suspended.

I found that kind of interesting.

I actually had that same issue and that was my argument when I actually got suspended for a day on my NA (now LAN) account that I've had since beta rofl. I've only gotten punished since the tribunal went down within the last year or so lol. Never before did I have issues. System is a joke honestly.

You think the community was just over-tolerant?

That... explains a lot, actually.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't know if the community was too tolerant, or not. Maybe they were, who knows? But you have to admit it's at least a little curious that many people used to say that Tribunal was too harsh, because all people were doing was voting to punish every case, yet my roommate was never in trouble. And now that he is no longer being judged "by a jury of his peers" so to speak, he has magically become toxic?

I think it's that back when Tribunal gave IP rewards a lot of people just hit punish and innocent people got punished. Then they took that out and a lot of people left, but the Tribunal was used to a large amounts of votes before any kind of punishments so it gave no punishments, or the people that stayed thought the toxicity was nothing compared to their games.

Honestly I am of the school of though of who fucking cares? It's like play on and shut up. If you don't to hear someone just mute them. Really everyone is so pussified.

Seems he isn't of the school of knowledge or wisdom. We are talking about all toxic players,AFKs,trolls, feeders, not just people like yourself. Also comparing the "punish happy" tribunal to the new system. In the limited time i was in the tribunal,i noticed you would get punished for the slightest thing,as industrial language or a bad joke.

They are cracking down on it. Right before the season ended I got a 2 week ban. I was telling people to drink bleach and stuff so I wasn't too mad (or surprised). So I stopped doing that after my suspension ended. A day or two after it ended I got a 75 game chat restriction and 35 game ranked restriction. Ok whatever bro, I'll try and calm it down. A couple days later I got a 2 week suspension again. If I remember right the worst I did was tell a teammate that threw a 50 minute game getting caught that he should be in bronze 5. I thought it was fair, since that person just wasted 50 minutes of my time, but apparently not. At this point, I want to go back to telling people to drink bleach, because it sure as fuck didn't help when I stopped, so why bother.

Those extensions were because you were so toxic that even AFTER the chat restriction you were still above the threshold.

Meanwhile the 4 people who tore me a new asshole in an ADC game because they kept getting caught out and I had no one to peel for me are still playing. Working as intended I suppose? And Riot wonders why I'm toxic, I'm sure.

The system doesn't ban you for one game. It does an analysis of your history games and looks for patterns of behavior. It's pretty clear that you have a history of toxic behavior. The system flags that. You are now "marked". If you keep getting reported, then it shows that the punishment isn't working and the system doles out harsher punishments.

You've received 2 two week bans in a relatively short period of time. A permaban probably isn't too far off in the future at that rate. Seems like you should probably take a long break from the game and get some perspective (and possibly some anger management). This is a game.

Riot doesn't like how long the Tribunal takes to punish people. It breaks the connection between behavior and punishment and exposes the community to toxic behavior for longer. Also, the Tribunal pushes toxic players to reroll into the new player experience and that's bad stuff.

I think Riot's new strategies for discipline, including chat restrictions and ranked game bans, are quite a bit more efficient than the Tribunal was.

It is true, but I mean the tribunal was never reviewed by the community as a whole at all. Most likely than not, people will press "punish" anyway. I worry more about the boards than the actual game itself, because everyone just wagons onto whatever we want to hear. The first comes into Cassio or Lee Sin.
