Marksman Update was not Successful

There is a perennial problem with marksmen being simultaneously in a bad spot and being too strong. The marksmen update was supposed to accomplish two things: Create strategic diversity for marksmen and rework their items so that they could be balanced in the future. Right now there is little strategic diversity. Ashe, Jhin, and Sivir rule as both utility and top tier damage champs in the bot lane. They have their unique strategies but there is little to no downside in picking them over another champ with a different strategic niche. These champs can do what other champs do but they can do it with utility and they can do it with less risk. Furthermore their item situation doesn't help much either. The items built for marksmen are built so that it takes a few items to really ramp up. If you're gonna get I.E. then you need a crit item to go beside it or its much less useful, same goes for E.R. When an ADC can take fighter/assassin items, crush the early game, and then still feel good about their damage late there is a problem. As it stands, if an ADC can use ghostblade, duskblade, black cleaver, its always the better choice. There is a huge problem with AD itemization right now. Miss Fortune, who has a game changing ult that scales off of crit won't even build crit because the other items are that much better early.

Overall I think ADC's can gain some diversity with balance changes, but right now itemization needs some major changes or else champion balance will hardly even matter.

Still better than mage's update. Mage's update is the worst update i saw in 3 years.

The problem with ADC diversity right now isn't directly tied to the strength of those three ADCs.

It has more to do with the massive amount of mobility you see from other roles and the amount of damage from these other roles so early in games. The reason those 3 ADC's are in the seat of power is because they have reliable engage tools that are semi global and trump the mobility from other roles and classes if used correctly. They aren't in a seat of power because of damage out puts, but rather because they dont NEED to out put damage in fights to be effective in those fights when the amount of mobility from other roles is so high that being even in the backline is a significant risk of death to said ADC. Ashe just has to ult. Jhin just has to ult. Sivir just has to ult. And then maybe they throw and aa or spell out here and there and the fight is won on the strength of the engage tools they provided for the team.

The problem with ADC diversity is not some ADCs being overly strong and others being weak, its that mobility creep has reared its ugly head and everything and their mom is a threat to one shot an ADC when this is combined with damage creep from keystones this season.
