Lee Sin
Edit - Just thought I'd like to add something this post because I saw a thread that said Lee is pretty safe and I somewhat agree but Lee isn't really a problem for me. I'd just like to remind everyone that Shaco and Ivern exist
I've been lurking on the boards for a while and noticed a lot of complaint about Lee. So I thought I'd like to say what I think about this champ.
Yes this annoying bruiser can 1 shot you with about 2 items by ward hopping then comboing spells and autos together. But a few other bruisers can do something similar when ahead. For example: Shaco can almost 100-0 a squishy when ahead with triforce and titanic hydra. In stealth. Hecarim can just run at a squishy like an ape with his very skillful combo: ghost if he wants to -> E -> smite if he wants to -> right click and Q and maybe ult somewhere with just a triforce and a few defensive items and boots. Dead mans plate comes to mind. It's also easier to outrun Lee than Hec. Vi can also combo spells and autos and kill a squishy quickly with triforce and warrior. However I don't think I've seen that much complaint about the other examples.
Also I think I've seen the boards talk about Lee invades. However within my 2 years of spamming Shaco I don't remember the last time I got invaded by a Lee. I would think he's good at invades. Against an aggressive jungler shouldn't you be warding your jungle entrances and tracking where the jungler is? From my experience, control wards and hoping your team can track Lee/Kha/whatever is pretty good at not getting destroyed by an invade.
The reason I made this post is because I want to discuss this champ. Why does the boards specifically target Lee? He's not really broken, just pretty good in a lot of metas and is apparently really fun. The last time I checked op.gg's statistics for NA, his winrate in plat, diamond and master hover around 50% and his overall winrate is somewhat low. I also remember his winrate in challenger being around 59% with 600+ games or so, which affects a small amount of players.
Also, even though I normally don't play solo or duo lane, here are some things I thought should help:
- Knowing which side jungle he starts (this can be done against any jungler except maybe Shaco; look at the minimap and see which side lane gets to lane last, that's probably the side of the map he started)
- Deep warding (tracking the jungler's pathing will help you predict where he's going)
- Seeing which side jungle Lee enters after ganking mid
- Play something Lee has difficulty invading and counterjungling (Graves and Kha for example; Graves's clear is pretty healthy and Kha is an amazing duelist)
- If you are isolated, standing in a minion wave that belongs to you makes it harder to land Q and get in range thanks to creepblock
- If you dodge Lee's Q, his damage is lowered (obviously) and this cripples his mobility a little bit
- Get peel from your team so that Lee doesn't cuck you with an insec from a mile away
- You need a lot of vision to stop his flanks (or any flank in general)
- If you can somehow make sure he doesn't auto and make him use wards fighting him should be easier
- If he smites a minion and Qs you, that's an outplay
- You should hope your team drafted some kind of CC that isn't a slow
- If I remember correctly you can QSS his ult if you time well. You can also dodge it if you use Fizz E, Yi Q, Zed R, zhonyas, etc.
