is slow now. 1.25 seconds for landing w or getting full damage off q is ridiculous to a community that had 4 instant high risk high reward skills. There is also no way to realistically play her in higher elo as every dagger can be easily dodged by players with a .15 second reaction time.
Yet there is an alternative if you do not mind losing your aoe ult. (Similar to how 
became the new champ for 
mains after her rework turned her into a different champion.)
Switching to 
mid is mechanically similar and builds similar except down an ad path:
Q>Timat>E>aa>R is very similar to katarina's QEWR Also, you have W which is like katarina's long lost ward hop. The only thing is you lose an aoe ult and resets for cc and a guaranteed ward hope (no reset needed)
The build is very similar except on an AD rout: -Gunblade replaced by timat/lifesteal -Void staff replaced by last whisper etc. -GA replaces zhonya -Duskblade can replace Death cap etc
I wish they kept the old school champions for us to play but oh well.
