My opinion on champions that begin with the letter A in patch 6.9
**Feel free to tell me anything you'd like to say about the champions listed below, aswell as what you think of the things I said and the type of formatting I use and if I should change it. **
For champion design/difficulty reasons, some champions will be more in depth than others.
Top lane Aatrox is currently not a bad pick, Guinsoo's lets him keep a lot of his power and is generally a great sustain champion, I feel like with a minor buff he'd gain some more flavor again but could push him over the edge and make him too strong as well.
As for jungling, Aatrox severely suffers, Warrior enchant doesn't do him too well, Going Cinderhulk hinders his damage, Echo's is weak on him because of the fact that only his E and R scale with Ap and Bloodrazer isn't a strong enough item on him, the stats it gives for the amount of time needed to get it doesn't benefit Aatrox nearly enough as Warrior would and Warrior would still drag him down. I would consider keeping him in the Top lane.
Lets face it with Ahri, There's 3 times your going to see her be played [In ranked]
- Someone who plays her consistently and well
- Someone who had a few good games as her and wants to continue the streak
- She's never been weak, She's a strong pick in every meta, she has sustain in lane, 3 built in dashes, and a speed up, She has one crowd control ability aswell.
Ahri will continue to be played until this game ends, her pick rate has currently dipped. but her strength definitely hasn't.
Akali mains don't have to worry about her nerfs or buffs, They will always be able to accomplish what they want to do; Assassinate
Mid-lane Akali. -- Akali's strength doesn't lie in her damage, but instead her sustain as a Assassin, her burst is most noticably weaker than other assassins, but she has multiple rounds of burst, not just one. To keep the burst string going she builds items that heal her for damage she deals [
]
If her play rate goes down [which is near impossible right now considering it's very very low] She'll definitely be a sleeper, if she isn't already one.
Her power has yet to be realized by multiple people who have potential with her, and having her on her roster would be a great addition.
Top-lane Akali. -- I'm sure we've all had a top lane akali in our teams before, She did one of two things most likely, she fed, or she dominated, Usually there is no in-between, While the Koreans do a great job at coming up with new tactics on champions, North America and Europe do a great job of imitation, and improving. Top lane Akali could continue with the usual build of AP with defensive items, or the tank Akali that the Koreans came up with, either one could do well, but just like Akali has always been, she is extremely weak pre-6. Making a early damage champion match up against her would definitely make her weak again. She will have a hard time getting back into the game if shutdown like this, and will try to farm it out. I would only recommend toplane Akali after you've gotten some feel for her in the midlane.
Alistar has always been a great support, his W-Q combo was harder to use before, but now it's gotten much easier for people to pick him up which is a great. His ability to dive into a enemy team, knock them up, stun them, and then make himself very damage resistant is extremely powerful. His laning phase can be very powerful due to the combo being able to CC enemies long enough for your carry to out-damage theirs and ultimate win the fight. With an addition of a heal on his E [Though it heals for a reduced amount on allies] his laning sustain is very powerful but mediocre at best compared to other healers. Pair him up with a early Targons rush and your lane sustain will be high but the mana cost will be too, The cost itself isn't high, but his base mana is very low. To solve this problem you'd typically take a Frozen Heart.
Overall Alistar is one of the best supports in the game, and could possibly be the best during patch 6.9, Having him on your roster could win you multiple games.
Depending on your elo you could have different opinions on Amumu, but he's still a great pick from Bronze to mid-Diamond.
In the lowest 2 brackets of League of Legends Amumu in the jungle has the potential to be The Exodia of League of Legends, the manifestation of the War God himself, His refusal to die paired with his huge AoE damage, and large amount of crowd-control aswell makes him a very reliable and strong pick in lowest elo-s, As you start to climb in ranks however his effectiveness definitely begins to wear-off, People start to know his range, his movespeeds, his AoE and his threat. They learn when to ignore him and when to focus him, He will begin to lose all effectiveness at mid-diamond, Once at high diamond his effectiveness will be minimal at best if he misses a Q and doesn't have flash available.
For your jungle item you have 2 choices on Amumu, If you aren't too ahead in the beginning of the game you would typically build a Cinderhulk, go tank + Ap and call it even and strong, If you gain a huge lead however, i recommend building a Echo's and continuing that Tantrum of yours. The additional movespeed and damage is nothing to scoff at, The HP bars of his enemies will deplete much faster than expected but he leaves himself open for a few minutes this way, Once you reach mid-game I would recommend selling the item and getting your Cinderhulk because your rampage as damage has ended and now you need defensive items to survive, I would say anyone under mid-Diamond can easily pick up this gem of a champion, but Gold could easily carry themselves to Platinum with Amumu if they are good junglers.
With the patch of 6.9 there isn't too much information I could say on this champion without seeing it more often/playing it more often, however due to the balance changes I would say her strength went up with players who could play her well, however learning to play her will be more difficult now.
With the patch of 6.9 there isn't too much information I could say on this champion without seeing it more often/playing it more often, however due to the balance changes I would say her strength went up substantially, Tibbers now becomes a much more powerful minion, his damage is ignored until it's too late to realize how much damage he has actually done, Annie overall is a easy to pick up champion, but her skill-cap is low, Everyone knows what Annie intends to do just by her movements, I would recommend picking up Annie in the midlane and dominating before Riot realizes how powerful they have really made her, enjoy the LP and enjoy the champ, she's been around a long time!
[A little too strong now for my liking considering her skill-cap but could easily remain as is]
I would consider Ashe a midtier champion right now, she's not too strong yet not too weak, very balanced and does what she is supposed to.
If your looking for a hyper-carry Marks[wo]man I wouldn't recommend Ashe, however if you are looking for a stable marks[wo]man I would definitely recommend Ashe.
Aurelion Sol can be played in the following roles; Top, Jungle, Mid.
Aurelion Sol is a very, _very _ powerful champion in patch 6.9.
Aurelion Sol needs a long time to get used to, and after you've gotten used to him comes practicing.
Top Lane is a very strong lane for Aurelion Sol, he gets the farm he needs to buy the items he needs, he isn't neccesarily XP reliant or level reliant, but he is very Item reliant, He'll need 3 core items before he could begin to dominate a game and show his power, Once the power spike comes though, he'll most likely be able to duel anyone on the opposing team, or burst down a enemy squishy. This is a lane that isn't played too often for him that I would highly recommend.
Jungling Aurelion Sol is a situational pick in Champ Select, If you pick before the enemy jungler I recommend you don't pick him into the jungle positions, however if the enemy jungler is weak in the jungle early on, you can take Sol. The reason I say this is because your ganks early will be stronger than many people expect, while the enemy jungler wont be able to counter them due to the sheer speed Sol can travel in. When the enemy jungler begins to power up you do too, Sol scales well with Items and the more of them you build the more you will out-scale most champions in the game, by come lategame you'd be as strong a Sol that went through laning phase, only with smite. From there you have the ability to start fights and survive, you can also steal camps/objectives with smite by flying overhead with your E and good timing.
Mid Lane is Aurelion Sols designated lane, however this is most likely his riskiest lane. Most of the midlaners could either outrange him, outdamage him, or gap-close onto him making his stars useless. Most champions with equivalent range to him have a crowd-control ability that could make his stars dissappear long enough for them to reposition away from the stars and escape, or damage him before he can get back to where he needed to be. Mid Lane is my least preferred lane for him, but it could also be the most rewarding with the amount of roam potential you get to Top, Bot, and to help out the jungler.
Azir has one of the highest winrates per games played in the League of Legends. His Skill-Cap is immensely high, his combos are hard, and his stats are mediocre.
Azir needs levels, gold, and skill to be strong, If lacking any of the 3 he could fall to prey to multiple champions in League without much resistance, However with all 3 on par at a high level, he is one of the most powerful champions available, his Crowd Control is immense when used right, or non-existent when used wrong, his damage isn't too high in terms of burst, but his DPS is that close to an ADC's, with the right items enemies can't get away from you, or to you, if he gains a lead you _have _ to shut him down or his lategame will dominate yours, almost guaranteed,
Azir takes a very long time to learn properly, if he isn't learned properly your DPS will be _enough _ but not too well, mastering this champion alone could carry you up a tier in terms of his strengths when learned, This champion is a do-or-die and I can't emphasize that enough, High risk high reward, I could phrase it in multiple ways for Azir and I have nothing but the upmost respect for players who dedicate a large amount of time to truly mastering him and not sing his bare minimums,
10/10 would learn again.

Annie too has indeed been improved but as you mentioned there is not much one can do with her. She has a really tough time during the laning phase against most champs even against relatively passive ones like
