Bring them back! -an optimistic community effort to balance the meta Ep. 1, Featuring Viktor

SERIES INTRODUCTION Hey guys! The Glorious Herald here, and I wanted to try creating a series that looks a certain champion (1 per an episode), analyze why the champ is under powered, and discuss as a community how we can help make these champs see the light of day on the rift once again. I thought that instead of sitting around and discussing which champs should be nerfed, we discuss something more_ positive_ by looking at champs who can bring even more interesting mechanics and fun experiences for both those who play as the discussed champ, and those who play against said champ.

VIKTOR You might be wondering why I have chosen Viktor as the first champ that we look at as opposed to someone like Taric(Please let his rework be near), and my answer to that is two-fold. First, off, being a Viktor main(I even named my profile after this champ), I believe that it would only be wise to discuss him first seeing that out of every champ, I have the most authority talking about the Machine Herald. The second and more important reason why I would like to discuss Viktor is that according to Champion.gg, at time of writing this, Viktor has the lowest win-rate out of all mids. Yes, I know that I shouldn't use that as a basis as to discuss a champion, but I have seen why Viktor has hit the bottom of the rankings after weeks in professional play, but believe me, I see goldmines of this champ. But before I discuss how we can fix our machine friend, we must understand what is wrong with him in the first place.

THE PROBLEM The underlying problem with Viktor right now is simply put, there is no good reason-looking from a gameplay perspective only- why you should play Viktor. Why play him when you can play someone else that does what is supposed to do better? With the most recent nerf, the only thing he had above everyone else-wave clear- was taken away.

MY PROPOSED SOLUTIONS I really do believe that the theme of Viktor being more deadly the closer he is to an enemy is underutilized, so all of changes will aim to utilize this theme.

  1. Change his ult so that it empowers lasers that pass through the chaos storm, giving it bonus damage until it leaves the ult field, but this effect gains more power to the laser the closer the storm is to Viktor. This would put more emphasize on the power of both Viktor's ult augmentation-which in its current state is negligible in the grand scheme of things- but more importantly provides a solid foundation for Viktor's "Closer the Deadlier" theme.
  2. This is similar to the last proposal, but make his q do AoE damage whenever it is used on a target inside the Chaos storm that scales with the proximity to Viktor and the center of his ult.
  3. Give his hex core an active that makes him suck in the power of his ult, ending it prematurely, but empowering Viktor for the ult's remaining duration at the cost of movement speed. His E could be wider but slower, his q could provide an AoE shield to allies close to Viktor, the possibilities are limitless!

CONCLUSION Thank you for reading this far, summoner! Seeing how this is my first episode in the series, I am ESPECIALLY open to constructive criticism and I will enjoy reading your own ideas as to how to fix Viktor as well as suggestions to the next episode in the series. Hopefully one day, some of our ideas will be implemented in some form or another.
