A hardcore DotA player, coming to League of Legends. (2)
Hey dudes, I decided to make another one of these posts since I had a ton of fun writing the first one and I had a ton of support from the community that is much appreciated!
At the moment I have 146 overall total hours on League at the moment, closing up to 150 soon.
Highlights so far
- Spirit Guard Udyr in a mystery gift (trigger)
- Quad kill on support Thresh
Now for the main body. Honestly I still have been playing a bunch and loving the changes from DotA 2 at the moment, games are quick and decisive instead of a being mid stand off for 20 minutes. If you guys havent read the first coming to League link should be above to keep you up to speed. I have flat out been loving the support role, which is by far my worst role in DotA 2 since it is such a tedious role to play that doesnt get any praise worthy gameplay besides winning. What I mean by this is in DotA the support role is a usually a super squishy body that have stuns that affect the early game, they are essential for winning but unlike League requires A FUCKING BUNCH of self sacrifice for the carry if you want to play correctly, it just is not fun to play support and have shit farm and items the entire game since you are spending your time stacking and pulling instead of in lane, warding is also incredibly expensive and really run down on you as a support. While in League since there are items the like Relic shield and Golden coin it allows for passive affects and active affects to be played for support, letting us heal when I last hit and me gaining money when minions die, it gives you an amazing boost and they actually build into interesting items
I have been loving Udyr at the moment as well, been playing him Jungle but I find him his Jungle weak. He can clear super quickly in Pheonix for but suffers to hard ganking and gets shut down by mobility. Him toplane though is incredibly fun since you just push so hard making them miss all CS under tower.
But other than that my League has been super fun to play and interesting. Now Ill talk about why you guys are actually here, the word DotA.
DotA 2 is known as a super mechanically complex game ranging down to the every thing the game offers. It is a very difficult game and punishes you for making mistakes. After playing over a few thousand games you will eventually get rid of MMR hell or Elo hell since it is all bullshit, you will be more comfortable with builds and heros. what goes for League is specifically teach you how to improve as a player You got your mechanics down, you CS perfectly, You have stomped your lane, you got your build early, and you lose.
During my time playing DotA there is one thing that automatically makes you a better player in LOL and DotA 2. Attitude
Attitude is what separates you from a good player to a bad player. You can win your lane and destroy early game, if an ally dies and someone leaves a smug "feeding noob" this will be enough to trigger people who have dealt with this behaviour in previous matches. Over and over harassment of the players skill will eventually lead the guy to flat out refusing to play, just to spite you.
Being angry is also dumb, its a video game chill. We all get angry it will only cloud your judgement in games and make you hate playing the game. Keeping calm and positive is the way forward
Encouragement, an ally gets a kill, congratulate him. You support accidently takes a kill? say "Np bro!" It makes the game a lot more winnable, it will encourage your allies to do well in a team based game, your already half way there.
Right, its 2AM and I need some sleep, I will see you guys later on some more comparison between LOL and DotA 2 with my lessons I have already learned from DotA and taking them over to League.
