Weirdest Game Ever

Okay so i get in champ select and declare GangPlank and my mid laner wanted him. I declared first and had first pick so i assumed he would pick someone else... he bans GP so i say "alright then ill go to my second pick for this match".
I go full ap Soraka top and then my whole team except 1 player is yelling at me for choosing off-meta. If i remember correctly off meta picks are allowed and NOT bannable. Anyways my jungler was yelling at me all game and my whole team was feeding except mid lane. I did end up getting first blood but at the game went on i couldnt do much (understandable). I realize i could have choosen a different champion but im sick of people in champion select being toxic, banning champs and all that bs and getting away with it. So yea i played Raka top.
