Suggestion for a new Lissandra passive
Lissandra doesn’t have the greatest passive in the game as we all know since it only gives a free spell. Like it’s not terrible because it allows Lissandra players to go manaless builds, but other champs can go manaless builds without requiring a free spell passive. Eg Brand, Annie etc. (These champs have other ways to sustain their mana). Even though she has defensive abilities which can keep enemies off her, she doesn’t have a lot of defensive stats (low base armour and health) and doesn’t compete well against ranged champs. So she ends up soaking a lot of damage.
So instead of her current passive which grants a free spell, it should mark enemy witha debuff when struck by her cc (initial q hit, w, or ult). To trigger the mark, Lissandra AA or spell against that marked target will cause her to heal herself, which scales with ap and is increased depending on missing health. With the new passive, Lissandra players are encouraged and rewarded to fight and engage upon enemies if they can proc the passive several times as this covers her lack of defensive stats. It also fits in many of Lissandra’s builds such as battle mage build (ROA+ low CDR)/ manaless penetration build by being able to sustain herself in fights and the glass canon build covers the lack of defence in this path by granting stronger heals.
With the removal of the free spell passive, she’ll need some tuning on her spell costs. She could use a mana refund (eg, restore a % max mana/missing mana) upon killing the initial target with her q. What this means for players are that they have to use her q wisely to poke, waveclear, proc heal or gain mana.
Though this point isn’t as important but it would be cool if she reduces the opponent’s magic resist by a %. Maybe on her w, or q on the initial hit? Even though she is quite strong and excels mainly in the early game, she gets worse as the game progresses which can be seen in her winrate. This is mainly because the enemy has got magic resist, QSS etc and Lissandra’s spells not hitting enemies as much because of how risky it is to use her close ranged abilities in the late game. So having this would be nice. It’ll kinda be like how she used to use the old abyssal sceptor which reduces targets MR by 20. But it’s probably too much since she quite strong and has access to reliable cc.
Though I do have to say, this stuff just conveniently covers most of Lissandra’s weakness, assuming that Lissandra’s base stats aren’t changed. But anyways I hope this helps. :)
