Is it Unrealistic to Get My Main Role I Choose When I Queue For Solo/Duo Ranked?

I've been queueing at least 10-20 times a day for ranked the past two months, and regardless of role combinations, I'm almost guaranteed a split of 1/10 pre-game lobbies actually giving me Middle when I've queued for it as my main role. I've tried queueing with every possible secondary and primary combination to fix my odds of getting my preferred role, yet I still have to either ask for my mid laner to trade positions with me or just dodge the pre-game to try again.

Any time I see my queue time get to 75% of the estimate, I immediately cancel and restart my queue to try and avoid the matchmaker filling me to cut down on my queue time total. This doesn't have ANY effect on getting my main role.

I'd be fine with playing other roles if it wasn't the entire experienced outcome I get when queueing for ranked. I don't have nearly the same drive to play jungle, top, adc, or support as I do middle. I don't get up in the morning and try to squeeze in the max amount of games per day. I just want to be able to play my role, even if it takes 4-5 times the amount of time to get in game.

Please, Riot, let me choose to wait if I just want to improve and focus on the role I actually love playing.

Play support for autofill protection?

Because it knows you need to play more roles and become a more rounded player so that you can reliably carry in all scenarios.

I get mid around 80% the times I been queing with mid+ jung pref. Curiously, I get Jungle less than I get ADC or support.

I started keeping track of autofill on August 17th. To date, I have been in 394 separate champion selects (by separate, I mean if I get into a champion select and someone else dodges, I will count only the first role assignment I got). I have been assigned something other than my chosen role in 201 separate champion selects, for a percentage of 51.0152% autofill. The role I choose is top.

well if you keep dodging or swapping in champ select, you gonna get filled. the game knows when you swap with someone btw. also stop pining for mid, 70% of the players on your server want to play mid, you aren't gonna get it as often as you want, or even ever.

Are you actually getting autofilled, or are you getting your secondary role?

I enjoy 4 out of the 5 roles. I have not yet been auto-filled top. :)

But I mostly get my first choice, even if that is usually mid. I honestly think that part is working as intended. Matchmaking, however, is another story. 80% of the time it feels like no matter how I play I win or lose in an utter crush of one team or the other, because the game matches 1000 elo players against 1900 elo players for some reason.

I have the same problem, I always choose the mid and the bot that are the roles I can play best, even if it was the top or supp I know something, but the server only puts me in jungler that I don't know who to play and don't want to play.

That happens when riot guts one role into the fucking dirt.

Everyone cried jungle op. And now that jungle is shit, no one wants to play the role, which in turn means “have fun being auto filled to jungle”

I usually get my primary role (Top) but when I don't I'm usually autofilled Jungle. Which means I either trade or I dodge. I really don't get the point of autofill in low elo, all it does is artificially decrease queue times and increase dodging while simultaneously lowering the quality of matches. But people have been shitting on it for years and nothing has changed so it's probably not going to go anywhere.
