"Pick Order"....

is such an overused goddamn excuse nowadays for trolls to pick the role you want, and I'm sick of it. My team just lost a game because a malphite decided to supp, when he had no idea how. I was supposed to support as Leona, and he gave me the excuse "Man, I'm higher in pick order, which means I'm better than you." I preceded to show in every aspect that I was better. What are your guys' thoughts?

Did he tell you he was going support when he picked? If not, there was a failure of communication. If he did, then you should have let him support and played something else. You both wanted it, and pick order resolves that conflict by saying whoever gets placed higher (which is random, not skill based) gets to pick first.

...Troll?

Pick Order is the best way to decide who goes where, when multiple people want the same spot. Riot officially supports this (over Call Order). You can be Faker, but if you're last pick and someone else calls mid, tough luck.

You're being matched with a group of complete strangers, and you're complaining that there is a certain amount of structure being given to that experience? Would you rather deal with the problem of call order blind pick has?

The ideal situation is one where all five people discuss before the game begins, however this is the internet. Sometimes you will find people in draft who are willing to talk it out, however sometimes you run into five people who main mid lane. One will be the best at mid, as ties are almost impossible, however the first person to be unsure of his skill in the other lanes will likely be the one to get it.

Pick order is random. It doesn't mean anyone is better. It means they have a right to select what role they want ahead of you. It doesn't really matter if you're better at it or not either. It's his choice.
