Isn't rework Galio just a better Shen?

I was going to create a big ol' paragraph explaining myself, but just think about it. What do you get from Shen that you don't get from new Galio? There ARE a couple things but the pros outweigh the cons heavily.

Shen is still better against physical damage dealers, especially auto-attack focused champs.

not even better.

shen at least follows his team mate and is global, galios is just big circle like tf/noct

but in essence, yeah galios just a mix of serveral things already in the game.

Not really, Shen has a global ult. Galio has a TF range ult. While it is long reaching, it's not global.

Shen's ult is global.

I imagine it gives more damage mitigation in the vast majority of cases.

It follows the target, rather than landing where the target was.

Shen also has much more consistent %health damage. He has low kill pressure, but he'll beat most bruisers and tanks in a protracted slug fest. Which makes him hard to shove out of lane. Galio's got more burst, but he's not going to have the damage to threaten other bruisers or tanks past the mid game.

Obviously Galio has advantages too (wave clear, more potential CC). They're just different champs.

Global presence and anti-AA

he has better dps too, galio hits you mostly in bursts

No because his puns are worse.

What pun could you use Galio in.

There is still one massive thing that people seem to ignore all the time: Gallios ult has limited range, Shen's doesn't. This means Gallio can't even gank bot from mid without moveing into the river, while Shen can sit all the way on top-island and still help out bot(which for playing toplane is a MASSIVE difference) Also, shen ports to an ally, gallio has a delayed dash to a location. This means opponents can disengage from gallios ult rather easily, while shen can get carried by an ally directly into the face of his opponents.

So in terms of global preasure from toplane, shen is still miles ahead off everyone but gp.

And better Leona.

They have the same overall combat pattern, except Galio deals more damage, packs more CC, and does better with and without gold. Not only that, he's safer.

Riot has done a great job on most of their updates/remakes. However, Galio is not one of them, they have completely lost the look and feel of the original Galio. He is now 45% Shen, 45% Malph, and 10% REAL Galio. Not even sure why they needed to update him when he is great in Gold and below, which is where most of the player base is located.

He was a lot of fun for me because of his two skill shots(love skill shots), and the perfect timing needed on his (team) shielding ability and his ult.

The skill set on the new Galio needed to just be a new champ!

The other Riot missteps were destroying original Karma, who was crazy unique, with a pretty boring mage kit, destroying Mordekaiser to junk, and destroying the old LOOKING Trundle with a model that moves just like Wukong.

well galio in this sense of thinking is the anti-ap version of shen. while shen is ideal against AD champs galio will give ap champs a nightmare, ecspecially with the Taunt, the engage, all the shields, and a not global but massively ranged ganking tool which already early possesses enough range for you to jump from dragon pit straight into botlane Tower.
