How is this game not an S+?

Before you downvote and leave, read this. I'm genuinely curious for some insight.

I got autofilled yesterday, and I didn't really feel like playing a meta support, so I locked in Singed. I did really well, with a KDA of 13/3/16. Game 1: http://imgur.com/a/a5PhM I only got an S-.

I played another game after that, and got autofilled again. I decided to play Singed support again. I ended up with a KDA of 8/5/17. Game 2: http://imgur.com/a/ryr5m In this game, I got an S+.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not salty or anything. I already have my Mastery 7 Singed, I don't need S+ tokens. I'm just curious as to how Riot's grading system works, since in Game 1 I had more kills, less deaths, and more cs, but in Game 2 I had less kills, more deaths, and less cs (and 1 more assist). So, I thought that I did better in Game 1 than Game 2, but apparently my performance in Game 2 was better?

Thoughts?

The 2nd game ended 7 minutes sooner.

That's pretty much the only thing I could possibly see.

The S ranking system is pretty stupid for odd role champion picks.

What was overall kill participation like between the two? That could have been a factor. Also could have to do with wards, but you had your upgraded sightstone so I assume you were using it fine. I would have guessed you would have had an S for both as support, but I've had similar results with weird supports.

your singed without any cs

That atrocious CS is why, even as support.

Normally Singed is played top and gets 300 farm.

CS and average gold for the champion (not your game) play a large part in +/- grading.

Game length is a large factor. I think there is a team factor in addition to personal stats. The second game ended much faster, so the entire team likely got a bonus on their grade.

Also Supports and tanks are likely measured on some stats that are not as readily noticeable at first glance, damage taken compared to death for example or amount of CC applied.

They are also likely taking damage to champions into account, so if the first game you stole some of those kills they probably mean less.

98 cs is abyssmally low.
