I am rather noobish at jungle and this game, but I’ve been watching the LCS recently (don’t tell anyone but go C9!) and I’ve noticed that a lot of junglers have been picking up inspiration as their secondary tree....this probably has something to do with the jungle exp and gold scaling nerfs back in 9.2.....can anyone explain to me why you would rather take inspiration rather than something with combat stats?

Inspiration is about breaking the rules a bit. I personally suck at jungling, but I'd imagine the main two combinations for inspiration as a secondary would be either
Either one of those combinations are worth their weight in their own way. One helps tremendously with ganks, and the other is more for farm heavy junglers that want fast clear and faster mid-game
Inspiration is pretty overloaded at the moment, you can't go wrong with free boots/stopwatch or more CDR.
I haven't tried it, but I'd guess, among other things, there would be free boots (particularly good for gankers), free 5% cdr on everything, biscuits for sustain or having a debt option to purchase items sooner, improved potions, stopwatch, or the ms booster, which is nice on gankers.
Can't speak for pro play, but for a while there quite a few AD jungles took futures market because hitting the powerspike of Warrior sooner was a huge deal.
I take inspiration as my first or second tree. Cause free boots give movement speed increase and approach velocity. I take these on skarner
I'm a jungle main and while i won't take Inspiration Secondary all the time i take it very frequently on Neeko.
Cosmic Insight and Free Boots are just so useful on her in the jungle and not very many other runes would give you as much mileage in the jungle on her, since she's not really supposed to be one, not having to spend money on boots and getting a free 5% CDR bonus is pretty nice(puts your ultimate on a 40s cooldown when you cap your CDR).
On other jungler's i definitely see the benefits of taking Free Boots/Future's market and Cosmic insight especially. Free Boot's is my favorite though in the jungle, i don't like future's market personally though.
Jungler who did this before it was cool, its about gold efficiency on certain champions who have innately higher thresholds to hit for their power spikes and if i can spend less gold on boots why not? i prefer it on kindred for example as boots + future market so she can get her spike items.
It also has something to do with the exp nerfs because as the game goes on it gets less efficient to farm gold so on carry junglers you need to hit threshold items before that happens so you can farm lane minions while your 0/5 120 stack nasus crys that he needs those minions.
It's because free boots are always good, but future's market that enables junglers to buy damage/utility items a lot faster.
