Ability to gain 'Champion Mastery' points outside of SR

They're called champion mastery points not champion mastery on this specific map/mode points, so why can't we gain these points in other game modes? I don't even care if the champion mastery medal would be specific to that one map/mode and not another (i.e. specific to dominion and would only be displayed while playing dominion and not SR).

Can't other game modes receive some love aside from SR (Yes, SR is a game mode.)? :\

Not everyone plays SR and those of us who don't, want to show off what champions we play often.
