A message to katarina mains from a katarina hardcore main.

I would deeply appreciate anyone who disagrees to leave an explanation as to why they disagree, as just downvoting and leaving just shows bias, making this discussion useless.

• 1st of all. her only problem right now is an item called "Duskblade the 400 more expensive gold version that also heals you for some random reason" There is no denying that problem. it is used on 2 champs. and as a very niche picks on something like jax.

• 2nd of all. "QOL changes" =/"Removing cast times" that is a massive ass buff boi...

• 3th of all Previously, Riot stated that the cast time on Shunpo enables the enemies to read when Kat is about to engage and allows for easier tracking during teamfights. What they ment is she has that 0.25 second thing to slow her down just a tad bit so its not possible for her to flicker on the screen. imagine it being instant. E on top of a Q dagger and E would make her literally appear like a ghost on the second location, that you didnt see in the first location. that could cause seizures if anything like legit, just think about it. She is there, without an animation or any indication its just BAM she just straight up teleported here. Trust me you do not want that if you played pre rework kata.

• 4th of all this thing right here -You can be CC'd during your shunpo, at your new location / You can cancel some CC's by luck (Vayne's condemn) i laugh in blitzcrank to anyone who brings that up. try flashing after Blitz does Q E. might aswell call that a clunky mechanic that has been in the game for years?

• 5th of all this argument +Moonwalking (walking away from target after shunpo) First of all that is fucking awesome. If i need to run i do it instantly with no delay, secondly feels like MJ :) and to counter walking away. you can E and instantly AA your target. Cause you know your mouse is on top of the target is it that hard to press AA manually? If i want to shunpo and run away instantly i would have to drag my mouse away and click the run button :/ which is alot harder than just needing to click on an enemy. Btw you can highlight enemy champions so you dont accidentally click the turret or a minion.

• 6th of all her ulti? IcyPengin "idk i feel like her ult is a really core part of her and it's not like it slowly does damage it hurts quite a lot. it's something that allows her to take down enemies without the help of her team but comes at the cost of counterplay. also it's a thing that you can use to pressure people into your daggers specifically into your q dagger like so"

• 7th of all. this guys post about gunblade. FrankTheBoxMonster "About Gunblade not going off, you can't use it during a cast time. It gets buffered like any other spell, so if you Q-Gunblade-E before the Q cast finishes, the Gunblade cast will be overwritten by the E cast, and only the most recent buffer will be cast after the Q cast finishes. • 8th of all to people who talk about E damage. base damage and AA reset. Her E damage is low for three reasons: Spammability, Ratios and Mobility. a typical combo usually makes you use 2-3 E. thats in a 1v1 imagine if you got passive resets. 15/30/45/60/75 (+50% Attack Damage) (+25% Ability Power) magic lets assume your E is at level 2 and you have a gunblade. 30+20ad+20ap. 70 damage per E. 70x3 = 210. WITH 1 item + mobilty mind you.Imagine a full build. with like 600ap. 70+50(kat ussualy has 100 ad or something idc.)+120 = 240 damage per E. and if you use just 2 it is the damage of most champions ultimates. MIND YOU THAT IS DAMAGE WITHOUT THE AA.

• 9th kat does have an identity for aoe damage, and has to go all in to do so. This also means it requires a sub set of skill and ability to fluidly dish out this damage. The idea that this requirement should not exist is like saying give me a point and click aoe nuke.

_ History of nerfs

Katarina has received 5 nerfs since her rework (including one that increased her E cooldown , passive damage nerfs (twice), E AD ratio nerfs, E base damage nerfs) and no buffs. Want to know why? Cause before these nerfs she was borderline zoe amount of cancer. She had no counterplay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOkhpWo9ZL4 Take note that damage was BEFORE the runes reforged. That added 33% of katas damage. So imagine how that + the new TD electrocute did. It literally allowed you to not even use ignite and you can kill anything at level 2. Q E AA ELECTROCUTE 1 or 2 AA after and that is it. you are dead to a level 2 katarina without her using ignite. That is why she got nerfed multiple times. and she could it every nerf until her passive dagger damage was nerfed.

KataFuFuu "As a champion, Katarina needs some heavy changes. Her intended playstyle has been broken and she feels very stale and clunky. Her Shunpo needs work as it feels dissatisfying to use, Her dagger timings could be changed, Even her iconic Death Lotus feels out of place. All in all, Katarina should be a swift and deadly assassin, focusing on her passive to maximize the amount of DPS and AOE damage she outputs. Currently, she performs with a lag and is extremely unsatisfying to play and play against."

Her intended play style is to set up daggers and jump on them. key pharse. SET UP Her being stale is an opinion that most disagree with. Her shunpo is great to use imo. If you ask for the 0.25sec cast time to be removed you want her to do her aoe burst damage in an instant? rather than a tiny tad bit of a delay? We have too many swift/deadly assassins, katarina needs to be set up a trap kind of assassin or prey on the weak minds of mispositioned squishies. her team needs to play around her letting her go wild rather than she engaging 1v3 while the team cant catch up go play zed/fizz if you want that. If she is extremely unsatisfying to play then quit playing her. I feel very satisfied alongside with a lot of katarina players

_ A story about a script

The only limiting factor was human reaction pretty much. A bot could do it nearly instantly. before kat rework. which is why it should stay clunky btw.

So if you are a true katarina main you probably remember a script called Kitty cat katarina (ironic given my name) It let you put in all of her abilities in an instant. (with tons of other things ofcourse but lets focus on the this specific part of it) literally 0.01 seconds and you used your entire combo. Of course this script worked only with prerework kata. So imagine if riot removed the clunkiness of kats E. That script could be so easily replicated then. And imagine if you could E W (W just for show) instantly, imagine if you had a row of 5 champions each with 50 hp. you would have to waste like 2 seconds to kill them all with shunpo. but if it was instant you could jump to all of them in less than a split second. Do you seriously want that? Now go outside of your bubble and think about it. Quality of life changes that can be played around by using simple things like taking an extra click to aa your target yourself. Or give the possibility of a potential kat script that is more than just a "dodge everything", or the slight possibility that you can break your E button on everyone. Catching someone scripting on kat was stupidly hard regardless of how fast she did it because there is the possibility the player could have done something insanely fast. (unless they obviously dodge like xerath scripters)
