A serious question about Auto-Attack Damage vs Physical Damage balance.

Would it not make sense to move auto-attacks to a % HP dmg that scaled per individual champion vs having it scale with Physical Damage item purchases?

You could then separate the Auto-Attacks from Physical Damage Ability Casters tuning the ratio of their auto-attack % HP either up/down depending on their damage output to balance them.

I truly feel the problem with itemization either:

  1. Riot does not create class specific items. (Assassins Only)
  2. Auto-Attacks and Physical Damage abilities scale off the same damage type.

% hp balancing sounds good on paper, until you look at things like neutral objectives and towers. It also makes last hitting aboslutely miserable in the early game, and forces riot to change adc items to better fit dealing % hp damage, which means that champions like Yasuo, Tryndamere, Yi, and other champions who build 1-2 crit items like Rengar with an IE lose out on entire item builds.

The main reason, why I dont like this idea is because this completely be changing the game at a very huge level. One you are not changing the way ability champions are using abilities. They stay the safe. However you would have to also change the way they auto attack. Since everyone else is getting the auto attack changes they would also need to be getting that same change.

You also said changing the ratio of individual champion damage output? You know how fucking evil that sounds to me? It's basically everyone tuning the damage of tanks auto attacks way down to compensate for late game since they dont have strong auto attacks. While you would to turn up for the ADC, like the marksman, and tryndamere, yi, yasuo, and other champions like that. This would also change many junglers, well lets say it would change the way very many champions deal damage.
