Veigar's E buff (PBE 3/3/2015

3/3 PBE Update

Just posting this to point it out to everyone, Veigar's E now stops dashes and stuns you if you do attempt to dash through it (had a feeling he'd get more than just a buff to his Q)

Heres hoping they buff it a bit more and remove the cast time on it.

Edit: Cast time on E is confirmed to be gone as well.

I'm glad they're making it stop dashes. That makes it a more effective zoning tool.

However, I don't think this addresses the fundamental problem with the new E: it's a "stun" that should never stun a non-stupid target who isn't already CC'd. Outside of rare situations where a person would prefer to get stunned for about 2s (and possibly eat a full burst rotation) rather than waiting 3s for the walls to collapse, there's no reason for someone to stun themselves on this wall. But that's the only way it can actually stun someone: if they stun themselves by choosing to run (or dash) into it.

A zoning-focused E sounds pretty cool. The problem is that his kit is built around the ability to stun (not merely zone) a target. Especially now that his Q is a skillshot, he can't do a full rotation on someone (or stop them from killing him) unless he stacks his stun on top of someone who's already stunned.

It just bothers me that there's no reason for anyone to be stunned unless they just don't know how his cage works. If you want to give the enemy a decision about whether to run into the wall or not, there has to be some reason why they'd want to do that, or else it just punishes ignorance of how the Champion works with no strategic depth.

Event Horizon needs a new mechanic of some kind to be an interesting, useful skill again. It should not be a "throw this on the ground somewhere and hope somebody runs into it" spell.

Oh man! Now everyone has a time limit to find something else to complain about on the boards. What ever shall they find next?

Meddler said they plan to change W delay

jjookkeerr3/3/2015, 9:46:46 PM5 votes

they should revert the ult nerf

And now I laugh at the topics made saying that the only change was the Q speed.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA.

Rinky Dinky3/3/2015, 10:51:26 PM5 votes

His q is now faster than Lee Sin's.

Holy shit

Edit: Faster than Ezreal Q

Just tried it out, still takes forever, more than enough time for an assassin to completely ruin his day.

Oh boy. Now I can get my hopes up even more,** only to never be able to land the stun in the first place**

What if they buff Veigar to the point Event Horizon becomes irrelevant? What delicious irony that would be.

Curious about how this plays out but not sure if it goes far enough. Blinks are too common for this change to do much, but if it comes down to it deciding "do I want to eat Veigar's W or get stunned" would make him feel a little less terrible.

If the cage last longer ( not talking about cast time ) than the stun time, it might actually help things out. Sort of Azir R but shorter lifespan. With E cast time, 2 standard responds :

  • get out.
  • stay at middle.

Get out : enemy will be safe but unable to immediately engage because the cage last longer as a wall, which can give enough time for veigar to run or calling teammates. If Q cooldown can be calculated with E time, try to aim 2 Q cast, sort of 'don't disturb my farm' sign.

Stay at middle : his W need some AOE improvement so it can hit large area inside the cage. Basically prevent enemy to run away and face W drop + R. Right now his W have a small AOE and can be easily dodged even if the enemy being caged. Perhaps as bonus if stay inside cage, either veigar do extra damage or enemy magic resist reduced.

Veigars ult is weaker now. It only matches up to its old damage after he has 300 ap stacks with a rabadons. A nerf to the enemy ap ratio would have been better in my opinion rather than his own ap. The 0.2 ratio was worth 10-20 damage early, 50-100 damage mid game, 200-360 damage late game, if you think losing that for qol mana nd cdr buffs thats up to you.

Cast time is actually still there, but the delay and warning particle start at the beginning of casting rather than the end. Veigar still has to stand still to cast it, but at least the delay got reduced a lot.

Trídent3/3/2015, 10:20:32 PM1 votes

His old E used to do the same... hopeful of more Veigar buffs :D

This is great.

So why wasn't this with the first rework?

Kuroi863/4/2015, 4:08:49 AM1 votes

YUS! Knew they would come through. Technically the cast time is gone, but the delay and particles start at the beginning of the cast time instead of waiting for the cast time to finish, so all in all the cast time is still there, but technically a moot point.

Also, Varus buff, HELL YEAH!

For a second I thought enemies would receive the stun early for trying to dash away... even during the delay time. Forcing a flash/blink if they can't walk out.

I was being hopeful :P
