I think we can agree that Xayah is op. I thought it might be just me so I looked her up on a korean league community site (couldn't find much on the NA board), and the general consensus is so. Plus we know what Riot does when they release champions.
I don't think so, and I don't think I'm an extreme minority either. There are a lot of threads that went either way.
So thinking about how Xayah will get nerfed in the future... I think her stun has to go. That, or, her numbers will get gutted. I don't think people want her numbers gutted. She just has too much in her kit. Damage scales well, which is nice, she also has attack speed boost, base is good, etc. all okay for an ADC.
She doesn't have a stun. If she had a stun I'd be on board. What she has is a root, which is much weaker. The root is also kind of core to her playstyle as a kite adc. If she doesn't have the root, all she has is the MS boost which is mediocre, short lasting, and just as good for chasing as it is for kiting. The root on the other hand is hard to execute while chasing because your target is running away from your feathers. Her numbers I think should be tweaked before removing something that defines her playstyle and gives defined scenarios where she is strong (kiting) and when she is weak ( chasing).
I don't have a problem with her ridiculous burst damage because it is conditional albeit too strong. I don't have a problem with her being able to pierce enemies on auto attacks because you can avoid being hit. I think it is a little too good to be a passive. I don't have a problem with her jump because she doesn't have a mobility skill. Untargetable for an ADC is really pushing it but I am okay with this.
The burst damage only is insane if you stand in it. You absolutely know its coming when its reaching insane damage levels because it requires a lot of feathers. Tristana has a similar passive on her E to show you that it can be balanced. It also can be a hindrance when farming under turret like Tristana's E passive is.
I do have a problem with however her aoe stun. She has everything else above par and then... the stun. Her kit allows her to do aoe damage, burst, then stun for 1 second while she becomes untargetable. The stun and untargetable are separate skills... so she can use them separately to survive almost anything.
Again, not a stun. A stun is much more powerful. Getting it to be AOE also requires a huge amount of feathers or her targets to all be in a line as well. It has some pretty solid counterplay to it built in.
I think another approach might be to address her zoning capacity. Not being able to stand in between her and feathers is okay but when you do, you get penalized by getting damaged, stunned, and whatever follows. Also, the feathers end up going everywhere. Riot might make the feathers only last for 2-3 seconds, which will essentially limit the amount of feathers Xayah can have on the field. That might be good too. A part of the problem is that Xayah can just leave the feathers without choosing to trigger E, and by doing so continue to zone the enemy team for good 6 seconds... per feather.
So you're complaining about the fact that if she makes you stand exactly where she wants you to you get penalized? I'm not sure thats a bad thing. If the feathers are going everywhere, then on the pullback unless you're point blank in her face not many are going to hit you, so the damage is minimized. That also means that you have had a LONG time to either kill her or pull out if she has that many feathers down. The feathers are a very small zone, especially if they're all bunched up (to do the most damage). Simply avoid that area and maybe pounce on her from a flank now that her feather laying tools are down.
Personally I think it was a terrible idea to create an ADC who can "counter" assassins. I am legitimately not sure how to kill her unless someone sacrifices himself to force out R and stun. ADCs die from assassinations, bad positioning, or not having team support. If she is going to keep her counter mechanism against assassins then something has to go. Right now she's the one zoning the enemies. She's allowed to freely do damage in teamfights because she can stun or R when in danger. Wtf.
I don't know if she "counters" assassins necessarily. Assassins can just jump on her then wait until she ults because Xayah has to predict their burst. If she uses it immediately, they just get her when she comes down. If she doesn't thinking the assassin is trying to bait it out, Xayah gets killed instantly by the burst. It definitely is an interesting mechanic though that does help her vs assassins.
You kill her by either surprising her with CC, or having a champion with sticking power (Like Riven) just keep going at her. Especially if they have tools to dodge the root (Riven). If she has bad positioning, she is still dying.
I am not saying she doesn't have a weakness. I think she's pretty easy to kill before 6 by ganks. But it's too small of a window of opportunity for the enemy team, considering the overall.
The main weakness you're ignoring is her total inability to assert herself. She can kite extremely well, but she can't chase at all. That, and her weak early game are her main weaknesses.

PS: I secretly hope she gets gutted. I really hate untargetable champions and the only one I accept is Fizz. He is a melee assassin who needs it for an all in or escape.
That might be a bad thing to include if you want serious discussion.
