Would you rather??

So I have a question, is it more important to pick for your team comp, or your lane. Just as a simple example, if your team is lacking AP and you are mid lane, and the enemy team selects galio mid. While Galio mid would be a weak pick obviously against an all AD team comp, especially if the ad champs are already locked in, but for the sack of simplicity, lets just go with it. Would it be better to pick an AP champ for the team comp, or go with an AD mid laner you are skilled at to counter galio?
