The reason ADC's are so weak this season

While it is true that the increase of the assassins, and the changes in armor pen play a factor, I think an overwelming factor could be due to the introduction of Autofill. Think about it, ADC's and supports are the only roles that are almost completely dependent on another player playing well also. I would be curious to see the stats, but i think it is safe to say the majority of autofills go to the support role. that means that ADC mains have a much higher risk of getting someone that doesn't play that role as their support. Especially since the introduction of the pick your roles before the draft went into effect. People haven't played support but for the few times they get autofilled, are getting stuck with the role. So Gold and platinum ADC's are expecting their supports to play like gold and platinum supports, and they get let down miserably.

What is the solution? I don't know, I'm hoping maybe someone at riot might be able to figure it out. I am not meaning for this to be another bash on autofill, but just wanted to know if anyone at Riot had thought of this and has any ideas for a solution. Obviously ceasing autofill would create a bigger problem than it would solve, and queue times would shoot back up, especially in higher elo. I'm not sure if this is possible, but maybe they could adjust the matching algorithm to match up teams that both have autofill supports. This might lessen it by making the bot lane matches overall more even.

Just a thought.

It's neither ADCs being weak nor the current dead horse called Autofill.

ADCs shine in their lategame. With games lasting 20 - 25 minutes they don't even get close to a reasonable lategame unless they're super fed.

Simple solution: Try to make games longer

No, its got nothing to do with that, and you can tell you have very little clue on the topic since you suggest assassins are popular right now...lol.

Too many eggs in one basket:

  • 2 kills = x2 gold/exp

  • Dragon

  • Weak tower

  • First tower gold

  • Stronger jungle.

This means a lot of attention on bot lane, leading to very little agency over the outcome of the lane for ADC/support players.

Riot, is doing what they always do and addressing the wrong things:

  • Buffing 'weak' ADCs (who only feel weak because only the really OP ones can function atm). All this does is lead to issues in the future, which they'll then buff their 'lane counters' to try to fix, continuing their horrible chain of balance mistakes.

  • Cutting jungle EXP (not going to fix it until you make them level 3 when bot lane is level 4). We've been through this song and dance before, Riot.

  • Ignoring the obscene power creep (its damage right now) that's been happening since LoL started. Business as usual.
