how the fuck do you carry as katarina? (honest question, no "just roll face on keyboard and win"plz

I know this would incite a lot of rage from gd because of the perception katarina has as a no skill just roll face on keyboard pentakill champion, but I honestly want to understand what situations katarina wants to create on the battlefield in order to maximize her chances of winning.. If you look at most of the games i have played, almost all the games i win are ones where my roam and lane win scales to the point where my team is so fed that we win no matter what we do, but games where i dont get such a dominant league tend to just... stagnate for another 10-15 minutes to the point where my team just loses bc both sides have caught up. How does katarina want to play in the mid-late game Does she want to force huge large scale 5v5 teamfights 20 minutes into the game because of the more people present to get procs off on her passive? Does she want to create a split pushing enviroment? although i dont think this is very strong bc she doesnt have the best turret damage as a ap. How exactly do you maximize katarinas chances of winning after the laning phase

  1. Sit at the edge of the teamfight for a few seconds until the enemy team is about half health.
  2. E in on top of the person with the lowest health.
  3. Q and W.
  4. Press R.
  5. E on top of another low health target.
  6. Q and W.
  7. Repeat 2 - 6 until the enemy team is dead.
  8. ??????
  9. Snowball.

try to get your combo's right, qewr, is a guaranteed penta, but if you accidently go wrqe you'll probably only get a triple kill

Wait at the sides for them to blow their CC or bait it out... then roll face on keyboard and win.

Um. Teamfights. Positioning.Picks.Etc. Anything that usually benefits an assassin.

If you're playing Katarina, then be prepared for the enemy team to target you. This is probably the most annoying thing for new Katarina players. Ward, ward, and ward early game. They want to shut you down so that you have no impact on the game. If a Katarina gets fed, then she snowballs very quickly and it becomes a hassle for everyone after she starts roaming.

Always think like you have a big target on your back and you're about to be focused, because most of the time you will be. Positioning yourself during team fights is also very important, and if your team isn't great at initiating the fight, then you probably won't get those clean kills. The biggest mistake I see Katarinas make is positioning incorrectly, and not realizing how squishy they are. A lot of them get wiped off the map before they can ult when the team fights start happening.

Kat is team reliant. If her team aint willing to initiate, you aint gonna carry

But u can throw a bowling ball at ur keyboard and hope for the best.

If you play an assassin, your job is to eliminate the enemy carries that will destroy your frontline (the adc) and your adc (the assassin or mage).

Other than that, I'm not sure what you define as carrying. If you want to split-push or take towers faster, consider AD assassins. Do you want to siege? Do you want stronger objective control? What is it that you want to "carry?"

Arenvalde6/16/2015, 5:59:25 AM1 votes

Troll your team.

Seriously.

Kat's job is to ks, not really contribute much to the first half of teamfights, run away when things start to go bad, jump in for the easy kills, and then snowball.

Basically, pretend you're a Yasuo player.

KirynDawn6/16/2015, 1:29:14 PM1 votes

You say what kind of conditions does Katarina want to create. The answer is none. You want as less agro as possible and basically clean up or "ks" or assist in fights as much as you can. it will keep the damage output to the max since you will keep resetting

Drunk Rummate6/16/2015, 1:27:51 PM1 votes

let your team 4v5 til someone is about half hp or less, jump in and ult, reset, spam buttons.

if you dont get the initial reset then zhonyas and hope someone finishes them off for you, then spam buttons once you're out of zhonyas.

i know you said not to tell you to roll your face, but it's actually a really simple playstyle.

You snowball and roam to help other lanes snowball. If the enemy team is smart they will have some type of CC waiting for you when you engage so often times it is better to get your ADC snowballing rather than yourself. If you find yourself fed try to buy items that will give you the most DPS in a teamfight like Deathcap and Void Staff.

Ok, if you have kills, you're set. What Kat excels at is cleanup, when the enemy team has blown flashes, cc, and the like. You don't want to initiate, which is insanely risky considering you're not tanky and considering you have 0 escapes when your e is down.

But what do I know, I'm just another support player who wants to shut down every Kat I see.

You want to get yourself ahead, and use that to get your teammates ahead. You want to kill your lane a bunch if you can, and then kill people in other lanes.

5v5 teamfights are important for you to be in, but aren't necessarily what you want. As an assassin, you want to kill priority targets. You have to be really fed if you wanna kill everyone. To get there, you should be warding up the map and trying to get easy picks on squishy carries. Free kills are best kills. Your ult can only actually target 3 people at a time, so it isn't good to just jump into the middle of the enemy team. One of the most important things to remember is, NEVER go in unless you are guaranteed a kill, and unless it is an extreme circumstance wherein the target is more valuable than yourself, don't go in unless you can get out after.

Kat is hard to carry with because she doesn't split push and take objectives, the only thing you can do is kill stuff, which requires you to take advantage of your enemy's mistakes while avoiding any mistakes of your own. If your whole team falls behind, you will have a very, very hard time carrying them. One last bit of advice is, there are two reasons you should be seeking kills. One, to get a gold lead. Two, to get objectives while the enemy team is missing important members and is consequently unable to defend them. I guess a third might be to stall your opponents from taking important objectives. But always kill with purpose, and keep in mind what it is you intend to achieve through your actions.

The key to playing Katarina is keeping track of your enemy's CC. Stay out of the fight until they either use their big CC abilities or the only people with CC left are out of range of your target.

Then you just pick a target, and roll your face on the keyboard.

I know you don't want to hear that, but it's the god's honest truth.

There is no skill shot, there is no anything. Just Q, E, W, R whoever you want to kill. Then, you'll kill them and everyone else around them.

As long as there is no CC to stop your ult.

Don't be afraid to wait on team fights. Just because your team is fighting doesn't mean you need to charge in as well. Let the enemy waste their CC on your tank or your other teammate who is bum rushing the adc. Then just E in and clean up.

There's a reason everyone hates her. It's because she is so impactful with such little strategy.

TheFameAnimal6/16/2015, 11:15:58 AM1 votes
  1. Roam to lanes lots.
  2. When a tf happens, wait in a nearby bush, when all/most severe cc has been popped and the enemy team are at around half health, just q e w r the fed adc or the mid laner. ;)

Krigjer6/16/2015, 1:25:37 PM1 votes

Teamfights and positioning. From watching and listening to my friend (a Katarina main), you can't just jump in to a teamfight immediately. You wait for threats to blow their cooldowns (Warwick and Malzahar blowing their ults for example), you pick out low health targets that are fleeing. Most importantly, you make use of your reset passive. He dies most often by not getting his reset, either by some CC or his target escaping with 10 health.

And lots of roaming. Assassins excel at picking out squishy champions and eliminating them. Roam like crazy and target the squishy champs you can 100-0 flat. The more people you catch out, the more often, the less people they have for teamfights. And when they're down a player because you caught them roaming, you can engage a teamfight in safety.
