I thought that the plants were a horrible idea before, but now that I've actually played with them..

I KNOW they are...

I dont hate them or anything but I just think they are unnecessary gimmicks that are also almost impossible to see on the minimap :s

WinTheWarOnPants24 votes

agreed except for the vision plant. i HATE!!! that one. i'm an Evelynn main tho so of course i do. It's also crazy overloaded and just plain RNG bs. they are everywhere and not only give you free vision of a massive part of enemy jg without any risk to yourself, but also reveal wards and all stealth traps/camouflage units!?! like WTF?!

Penns5 votes

Wait it reveals stuff? I thought its just normal vision like from a ward oo

Ralanr9 votes

Nope, it reveals wards.

Woodyharris15 votes

and traps ie teemo and shaco

Xonra1 votes

Yeah it basically acts like a huge wave of the pink ward effect across a large area.

I actually like the bomb one, is the only one that is insignificant enough for the amount of randomness they bring. I must admit they are impossible to see on the minimap but I roam the map constantly and memorize them, they are good for invades and a must clear if you find one in the jungle. The vision one is crap, reveals the junglers way too much and teh heal one was basically made for the laners

TheHappyReaperz3 votes

It also reveals you when you use it

I feel bad for using them leggit. As soon as I see one I just pop it so there is one less of those shit piles affecting my games.

map feels cluttered

I thought they were cool until i jged and played a few games with them. Yeah sounds like a cool idea but isn't.... Also fix the fucking spawn times

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I hate how Krugs and Gromps take about 5 to 10 seconds longer to spawn at first. Like Why? Fine then, Riot wants me to wait longer on the typical starting camp? Fine, I will go Red or Blue buff. They are solo camps now and with my leash, I HAVE to because I cannot keep them waiting too long.

Supreme Senpai698 votes

I'm starting to like them but I sorta hate the vision one. Like, if you hit it that's 100% chance to know where the jungler is. Either you see them in that half of the jungle and know they are there. Or you don't see them and know they are on the other side. That knowledge is just so powerful

doombotMECHA3 votes

also an auto-win for baron/dragon vision wars

Supreme Senpai691 votes

After playing more:

I still hate the vision one. An ally used it and it spotted a ward. I walked from one side of the map to the other, with mobi boots mind you but still, and cleared the ward. It lasts so damn long.

Targon7 votes

I like the honey fruit plant but the other two plants feel very out of place especially the blast cones which clutter the jungle.

XxLolzftwxX7 votes

I honestly think that plants are horrible too, the explosive plant can help troll teammates like make them jump towards enemies. (Does this affect yasuo ult?) The plants in general benefit long ranged aa junglers because the one who hits it first basically decides how the plant is used. Also the plant that gives vision seems like a poor version of the wolf smite camp, but can be used by anyone.

7 Fires1 votes

Actually as it is now the scrying plant is BY FAR the best, and most abusive, of the plants as it reveals traps, wards, and champions. They also spawn with enough frequency that you can have strong vision control on the enemy jungle just from it.

Ralanr6 votes

Eh, they're kinda funny.

SociopathFriend6 votes

I just had a match as Malphite- I got a kick out of them. The explosive one was fairly fun and helped speed up my jungle time by letting me jump walls. The seeker one helped me spot out a ward once or twice but otherwise I didn't get much use out of it. I was indeed low when running through the river and ate the healing fruit, healed me up good.

Maybe it's because I only just encountered them, but they seemed fun to me.

Said it before, and will say it again. Random stuff doesn't belong in a video game that's played professionally.

Get rid of these plants, they don't help, they don't improve gameplay or fun, the only thing they do is make you go out of your way to click them for no reason every once in a while to see yourself being thrown over a wall...

They actually help tho, I was a bit behind in the jg and kept using scryers to alert my lanes to ganks, blast cone was fun and got me away from an invade and honey fruit let me catch up in farm since I didn't have to back.

I think there is some merits to some of the plant types, but I have a huge issue with the Blast Cone. Here's my takeaway;

Honeyfruit The river is a highly contested area of the map, therefore adding another small objective to contest there makes sense. It's the most simple of the plants; it heals you. That's it. Laners need to roam in order to pick it up, which has strategic merit since they need to gauge when to shove lane and pick it up.

Scryer's Bloom This gives more methods of vision control, which is great. You can create and deny vision using this. I personally think the way it reveals wards for a long time is overtuned at the moment, but that's my opinion.

Blast Cone I hate the blast cone. It encourages steals by jumping over the Dragon/Baron wall. It creates more gank opportunities by creating different paths, which could be interesting, but I think it exasperates the current mobility issues among the current jungle cast. It also has way too much power to swing skirmishes in someone's favour. Unlike the other two plants which offer strategic niches, this one offers a ridiculous amount of combat power on top of mobility.

Plants would largely be okay if the Blast Cone was reworked so as to temporarily destroy jungle walls to preserve it's strategic identity as the ''ganking'' plant, while removing the CC it currently provides.

Woodyharris

Honeyfruit is not an objective. Destroy jungle walls? my goodness mate

Ultîma2 votes

If a contestable healing unit isn't an objective, what is it?

Also I offered an argument as to why I think Blast Cone is currently too influential, while offering an alternative to preserve its niche as a mobility plant in the trifecta of utilities, ''Vision/Healing/Mobility'', offered by them.

Thank you for contributing to the discussion.

Woodyharris1 votes

Simply, an objective of league would be a(n): turret; dragon; baron; inhib; and ultimately the nexus. These "contestable healing units" are as much an objective as a kill is.

If you believe 'blast'ing holes into the jungle walls is an alternative solution to the Blast Cone then.. This is not BF3, pull yourself together fella.

Ultîma1 votes

Yeah, geez, in a game where multiple characters create terrain Anivia Azir JarvanIV Taliyah , it sure is unreasonable and illogical to think of something that could, in fact, destroy terrain. I'm obviously irrational.

Requiemsfire2 votes

Considering it gives health and mana to whoever collects the honey fruit could potentially change the pace of the game, that one allied team member who is low or out of mana doesn't have to back now because they easily recover at least half of their HP, so they don't have to recall which could equate to another objective or another team fight easily won.

jama6553 votes

as a top laner the only effects the plants have had on me was leaving my lane to go get some health and coming back full hp to piss off enemy laners GGwp

Venomar3 votes

They're gimmicky on their best day.

The only one that's useful is the vision one because you can pop wards and see if you have a clear gank path. But once everyone catches onto that then all I does is say "I'm coming to gank your lane at some point in the near future if no words got revealed"

FCJAAAAGOOOO2 votes

Ayyyyyyy.

Seriously tho these plants peed in my dr. Pepper once I promise.

Joseraph2 votes

My problem is that not only the junglers can use them. Outtrading Irelia is hard enough, I don't want her healing all the damage I did for no fucking reason or punishment

Cowseed1 votes

It's on the map. If you don't want her going for the fruit then you just go for it.

Great Fox1 votes

I don't think the Plants were thought all the way through by Riot, mostly because it defies a major standpoint in balance that they took, which is; RNG is not healthy when it comes to outplaying your opponents. The existence of Plants now adds a kind of toxic RNG to the jungle, allowing opponents or allies to occasionally either escape, fuck the team up or more by even "Accidentally" hitting a plant with a basic attack.

Let's also talk about how ludicrous it is that ranged Champions can abuse the blast plants. ADC getting chased through the jungle? Use the Blast Pod like a Ziggs Satchel and send the enemies flying over walls or large distances, which also acts as ~1.5s of CC (Airborne)

Reiyalin1 votes

Definitely read your name as WinTheWaronPlants initially and was like did you name change or juat happen to have a perfect name for this topic. Then I realized my failure.

Greymoore1 votes

Trading smite rewards for plants was not worth it at all

Zerenza1 votes

Well one of the main complaints i'v had is that "It's just RNG bullshit" well it isn't, certain plant always spawn in the same spot and around the same area. Like, learn where that is, i frequently use the healing plant when i'm roaming(mid laner) so i don't die by a surprise after a gank.

Vision plants are extremely helpful if not a bit OP but again spawn in the same spot every few minutes(i know theres a specific time but i can't rememeber it) i'd say the only useless one is the blast plant, haven't seen that get much use tbh but the other two are incredibly helpful, you can play around them and do make being in the jungle feel less...boring i guess.

ADepressedLeona1 votes

Nothing feels changed to be honest. The blast cone and honey fruit are nice little additions that make the jungle feel different. The only plant I would even complain about is scryers bloom, that one seems pretty OP

Xonra1 votes

I will say what I did before: They aren't horrible, but they are completely pointless and gimmicky, and they add little to nothing to games. They especially add nothing when you take into consideration that we lost smite buffs for these stupid things.

While I will say they aren't horrible, "dumb" and whatever, they are completely pointless without adding or detracting specifically due to them alone. I ignore them most of the time, and that isn't a good thing for what was removed and changed to implement them.

Fairyfleur2 votes

They can be used strategically, people just need to get used to spawn times and locations.

Azteryz1 votes

they are kinda meh and gimicky when compared to riots other creative pre season ideas

but i will admit my teamates have called me a beast for jumping over a wall with the bomb plant after a high mobile champ and killing them with my immobile one (tf)

Ark Sorcerer1 votes

I hate these plants as well. Fruits benefit the laners more so than anything, blast cone is stupid and the vision plant... sigh. Don't get me started on this plant. I hate these plants and I want them out by Season 7.
