Show Ignite's damage

kitcat300··270 votes·6,730 views

summoner 11 Smite got a feature where its damage is shown in the spell itself, so you don't have to constantly check its damage when jungling.

summoner 14 I figure that ignite could use the same treatment. I shouldn't have to keep distracting myself in the middle of a fight, or casting it and praying it is enough.

EDIT: Now everyone is asking for heal and barrier, crap what have I done. XD

This seems like a thread that won't get a lot of comments, simply because there's nothing more to be said. Which is a shame because you're right.

I agree, therefore, I up-rated it, the end.

Thanks, I'm actually surprised at the attention it has gotten

Your idea is very reasonable, and mine might reduce clarity and clutter things up, but I would like it if champions that could killed by ignite were marked, taking into account things like HP5 and anything else that might passively save someone.

Piriprimey3 votes

I disagree. It's simple: then why don't we have a marker for our abilities? Our autoattacks maybe for the ADCs? It should be obvious from the health meter if somebody is to be attacked or not. (The OP is still right, though.)

Vellich0r2 votes

thats why you just bumpity bump, and then list your reasons. Mine is usually, "for great justice!"

Serge THE GREAT9 votes

Also, Heal should show, too.

kitcat3008 votes

I'm not sure it is needed.

With heal, you're never in a scenario where you asking yourself if heal will block an attack, you use it to top yourself off in a fight.

Ignite is wasted if you don't get the kill. Heal can't be wasted because you always reap its full benefit, unless you used at near full health, in which case your using it wrong.

On the flip side, there is no harm in clarity.

Gorgannan21 votes

I agree, buff clarity.

Wrong remember varus's q? that was just clutter... on the other hand i agree with putting a number on ignite

pun intended?

I'm just thinking if I'm low and Karthus uses r, that's where knowing how much your heal is would be important. If I would still die after I heal, then I wouldn't bother because it'd be a wasted heal?

kitcat3009 votes

I guess so. Now that I think about it, there is no reason to not have it there I guess.

FebruAhri8 votes

ignite only does a lot of dmg when you're the one getting ignited, never when igniting others

bumped for clarity! no wait for ignite... -.-

Good idea, this and warded pings.

summoner 11 - insta-killing blow

summoner 14 - damage each seconds

This is one reason why they didn't put the total damage for Ignite like Smite does, but I would agree Riot should just show both Damage each second & total damage.

Kuroi865 votes

It would be a nice clarity update on it. Though if you are relying on ignite to get you kills, then you shouldn't be fighting. Ignite is good for more than just netting kills. It also reduces healing and regeneration by half for it's duration. This is a key summoner spell that should be used at the beginning or mid way through a duel to ensure victory, not at the last second for a cheese effect.

I don't mean to sound judgmental, I just think Ignite is good for more than an execute.

summoner 7 summoner 14 summoner 11 summoner 21 summoner 13

Should all have these. Essentially any spell with a level-scaling stat should display it's current value. Unlike skills, you're not actively leveling these and so it's hard to know what the value is at any given time.

kitcat3006 votes

Actually, clarity is always 40% of max mana, so strike that one.

TenSlashTen4 votes

Yeah, you right.

I feel like ignite should be buffed because it sucks hella dick

ChaosThief10 votes

It's fine as is, it actually does a surprising amount more than it appears to do at first.

no, no it doesnt

FantasySniper5 votes

Yes it does. 70 total true damage at Lv1, 20 more per level to a maximum of 410 over 5 secs. (50+20*Lv) It'll cancel out even more health since there's half healing.

Can I get someone who is a higher rank than me to say it's fine compared to other spells? Not bronze/silver/someone who only plays bots

NinjaToad996 votes

Yes, because you obviously need a high rank to understand basic math.

Oh wait no you don't.

Oh I did read. I was simply saying that your logic is fucking idiotic. Here was one reason. You said that a higher elo would have to tell you that ignite was good for you to even consider it right? Well that's your first problem. The idea that you have to be high elo to know something is idiotic. It's the equivalent of saying that you need to be a heavy weight boxer to know that getting your jaw broken is painful. Because here's the thing, you can be Bronze V -200 LP because you have the muscle memory and reaction times of a goldfish who has been dead for 15 years, and still know every single thing about LoL. But because you are HORRIBLE at actually taking that knowledge into play, you suck. Just like how you could be great at reading Spanish, but can't speak it. You just can't put your knowledge (In this example, grammar, spelling, meanings, pronunciation, etc.) into action (In this example, speech).

Joe Dredd2 votes

Except that the guy said it did a surprising amount of damage, which it doesn't. Also, ignite doesnt do a lot of damage

NinjaToad995 votes

True damage with grievous wounds has it's place and can be useful. If you say otherwise, frankly, you're wrong. Sure, in many match ups other spells would be more useful. But in some ignite can be very useful. Also, it can give you the edge you need in an early trade. Granted, it's not as useful at later stages of the game (In most cases).

FantasySniper5 votes

You're wrong. It does a lot. On average it'll do at least ~10% of someone's health throughout the game, even against tanks. On your average ADC who has ~2000 health end-game, it'll do a whopping 20% of their health. The half-healing also counters a wide range of champions, all seen in every lane, and prevents sustaining their way out of the situation.

BTW, your logic is horrible.

It basically translates into one auto attack at every stage of the game for a damage oriented champ. over time. its not shit

FantasySniper3 votes

No. The average mage does ~≤40 DPS with AAs at Lv 1, and it only gets worse from there as your AD +AS scales horribly unless you're building for it.

For ADCs, its obvious that you have the DPS to not need to rely on it and instead want a defensive spell. Burst champions benefit from it greatly since they don't need protection if they don't plan on being in the fight that long.

I'm currently d5, and peaked at d2 earlier in the season. Flash/ignite is what I took in probably 80% of my games. I think it's a powerful spell. It's also the only one that does damage. If you want to argue that barrier is "more useful" that's fine, but barrier will /never/ help you kill that guy that got away with 200 hp. Ignite is the only offensive SS. That in itself makes it worthwhile.

kitcat3008 votes

Yeah, its hard to judge its immediate power since it is dot. Putting a number that is easy to see will make judging a potential kill more clear.

Junkο2 votes

If there is an option to disable numbers on them then sure, cause i kinda have both memorized.

NinjaToad992 votes

I think it'd be nice.

Skylimetoon2 votes

i thought it did show ignites damage. on the tool tip and on the champ. i see the true damage number pop up when i use ignite.

kitcat3003 votes

Yes it does. What I said was that smite has it where the damage done** is a number on the spell icon itself.** My suggestion is to do the same for ignite.

1 In The Stink2 votes

why not

Show me how much Barrier shields for on the Icon Show me how much Heal heals for on the Icon Show me the current remaining time until Im done teleporting on my Recall icon and Teleport icon

Kaipop2 votes

Why not just show the numbers for every summoner spell? Like Heal, Barrier, etc.

GrandMa5TR2 votes

Why not no harm in doing it.

Beegster2 votes

agreed

OrganicT2 votes

This should be implemented for every summoner spell including a number, exemple Ignite, like stated, Heal, and Barrier could really make use of this clarity ! Up rated.
