I do not understand your matchmaking strategy at all

I see this over and over and over and over and over and over in all modes. And I cannot get my mind around the logic. For example, just now, my ranked matches were something like 5-6 wins, I was placed bronze the ENTIRE time, and every single match I was in was vs. largely gold comps. Then I settled out at bronze 1. My first non-placement match was in gold vs. gold. I am bronze. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.

And don't tell me it's because I play as well as them. I placed bronze. Clearly I am bronze. So I am bronze but I have to fight my way out of it in gold? What the what is this?

And you see it in everything. I can almost predict a loss just based off of how well the last game went. And the bad losses are HUGE BAD. And the wins work the same. Out of five games, on average, in any mode, it absolutely feels like:

2 games guaranteed losses 2 games "neutral" favoring loss 1 game "hard win"

The hard win games are boring and make me mad because I can empathize with the other team. The other games feel pointless. One in five games feels even. THIS IS NOT BALANCE.

What is the point of ranks and MMR if from what I can tell, the only way you balance it is by artificially building teams with greater odds of one outcome or the other? Like, I would rather play 5 fairly even games and make zero progress than have to spend 2-3 matches, about an hour anymore, getting farmed and feeling like the worst player in the world. Clearly I am not.

I guess the real question is how can I get better at dealing with their matchmaking antics? My mindstate is I would rather lose a crappy matchmaking "forced loss" game in 2 minutes than waste 50 trying to win a game stacked heavily against me. I got nothing to prove. If I am bronze, let me be bronze, let me play bronze. I am fine with that.

And FFS can we do something about 1/3 of the champ roster being late-game, and these ranked games taking 12 minutes? ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THIS DESIGN?

I usually favour playing normal games and play against people within ~gold to dia range. Yesterday I played ranked which averaged around g4, which is my current rank. I had the exact same kind of player in my team there. Akali 0/4, complaining about an unconventional jungle singed, while he was doing fine, alongside a 1/0 Darius, which confuses me the most, trying to tell me the game is lost. I was 7/2 Jhin against Vayne. Darius wants to tell me she outscales. They got a baron and we still stomped them 15 min later. Stop this "I can judge looking at the setup how the game will end". No you can't. It happens that you get stronger enemies, but especially in bronze-gold that barely even matters. Christ, I played against countless Ezreal D4 onetricks and sometimes I lost, sometimes I completely stomped them. Ignore rank informations from websites like Porofessor if it demoralizes you from the start. That's not how you win games.

Like the smart man above me stated: Basically you need to go into each game with a fresh mental or you will have nothing but torment. Just imagine you are always with 9 other random a.i.'s that may or may not make mistakes throughout the game, and that up until either nexus is destroyed you have almost infinite opportunities to influence the game in or against your favor based on how you respond to the mistakes that are or are not made.

They state on their official page that their matchmaking is "fair", and this means that it guarantees a 50% +-1% chance to win every game.

This is just false, so they are lying on their own official page, and I think some authorities should do something.

Try to finish your first promos and see if you skip a few elos / divisions, sounds to me that your mmr is high and the game should reward you.

Everything else I cant help you with, matchmaking in general sucks and its one of the biggest contributors to onesided games.

I feel the same way. Last season I finished S3 and started out this season badly and in bronze because of the weird MMR/rank resets that happened earlier. I don't play much ranked in the first place. Now I am constantly seeing Golds if varying tiers and even Plats in my games. I guess you can tell how those games go. It may be partly because I have games with and without my friends who have played longer and have a better MMR than me, but even then, I should not be playing against people that are not in the same league as me (no pun intended). I play at the level of a low silver/high bronze player, I shouldn't be placed against those people. I understand that to get better I need to face people who are at a higher level than me, but a bronze/plat matchup is not a match up that is intended to challenge me and improve my skills.

So the way the system works - in theory - is that if you're being matched-up (bronze in a gold game) you gain a lot of extra LP and potentially skip promos/divisions. It's only expecting you to get some 50% winrate to climb. When you finish your placements it intentionally places you lower than your MMR would place you so that you climb and feel like you are making progress rather than placing you in the right rank immediately.

Yeah, kind of a dumb system.

Just to rub salt into the wound, in three ranked games in a row I played with Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Three games in a row, of ranked, included three completely different tiers of rankings.

Edit: As a matter of fact, I don't even understand why I mentioned the scenario like that, because in that single game with the Bronze player I was matched with Silver and Gold players too. That alone shows how much the matchmaking system doesn't make any damn sense.

Because your MMR is gold. If your rank is below your MMR, you can have a sub 50% wr and still climb.
