Tank assassins will continue to rise in popularity until Riot nerfs the items themselves.

Right now, building one or two damage items then the rest tank items is just too efficient to pass up. I actually see more melee carries building Titanic Hydra than actual bruisers, why? Because items such as these are too efficient at the moment. The same goes for Dead Man's Plate. Riot can continue nerfing each individual carry that abuses this build path, but until they actually nerf the items themselves, another 'Tank Assassin' will continue to rise.

First of all, Most of the time, their bruisers if they build defensively like that. (Especially Tri force, which is a Bruiser item)

Secondly, it's never going to be the items unless it makes it's role broken. (For Tri force to be broke, it would have to break Jax and Irelia, as well as the Assassin Bruiser builds.

Thirdly, Riot doesn't pidgin whole champions into building a certain way. They only make sure those builds don't get out of line on a statistical level. (Looking at the win rates, Tankko no longer seems to be in an OP state. Regardless of how annoying you find him to be.)

Lastly, The Bruiser builds are more Reliable, simply because they level out the "Feast or Famine" Powercurve. The Kill or be Killed aspect of most Assassins hasn't Hasn't really been Healthy. Yet moving away from Assassin and closer to a Diver, has helped those champs actually contribute something to the team, even when behind.

It's not just items, the Keystones are giving too much free power and need to be removed so the items wouldn't have to be hit as hard. Remember that just hitting items will hurt legitimate tanks until the real problem is taken care of.

Nerf the items and actual tanks suffer. Why is it so hard to believe that it might be the kits of the assassins or the masteries that are the problem?

It's not the items, it's the masteries. Fervor tank Yasuo being a thing is not becuase he synergizes specificually well with tank items, he does to some degree but it's hardly the main reason. I'd rather claim it's because he can live long enough to dish out all the damage-amp he get's from keystones since he has pretty decent base damage.

As long as masteries amplifies damage and enforces on-hit/on-cast damage of it's own without any need to build damage to access the benefits (specifically fervor which has static scaling), tank-assassin/tank-madc's will be a thing. Just saying.

Also, tanks are not doing that extremely hot, they are probably balanced, do they really need to be dragged down the gutter just because some bruisers/madc are abusing their build style due to massive out of game damage amp from keystones? Hardly seems fair.

Assassins have high damage bases & scaling, which is why they don't need much to instakill squishy targets; they need their bases dropped so they have to build damage to deal damage.

Why building high risk high reward while you can go with low risk high reward with a lot less effort? That's the problem, mostly this is possible thanks to the keystones.
