Name one thing riot has done this season which made you happy

I can name all the things I dislike: The thunderlords problem in the beginning SoloQ removal and the lies that entailed with it Removal of RP from online tournaments (yes i played these) Nerfs to my champion (Udyr)

This: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/4dpp6k/i_feel_like_im_taking_crazy_pills_here_the_entire/ And this: https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/4bo4ae/c9_rush_on_twitter_solo_queue_and_dynamic_queue/

Oh yeah and this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/search?q=dynamic&restrict_sr=on

The snowballiness of games in season 6 with towers being utterly useless. Dragon > baron at almost all points of the game (unless you need a siege) Riot's lack of understanding of their own game. The arrogance riot has thinking they know what's better for their game than their players.

There was a similiar arrogance with a game I once played called RuneScape. I bet some of you might remember it. Just look up "Runescape eoc is bad" on google. Ever since they made this patch and release on their game, they lost more than half of their playerbase. Their playerbase used to be a consistant 150-200,000 players every day. Now? They are just barely reaching 80,000. EVERY player said they didn't want EOC yet they made it. Riot Games is treading down the bad path towards arrogance and they will cause their own downfall if it continues.

Things I did like: I found the new masteries to be confusing and somewhat stupid at first, however they have grown on me after being balanced. The idea of the rotating game cycle. The hextech chests (even though the key drop is so low that this is actually just a money grab for us to buy more and more keys).

What about you guys?

New Champ Select Hextech Crafting Keystone Masteries Rotating Que Poppy Rework Upcoming Mage Update looks nice etc.

Vellich0r4/8/2016, 1:41:30 AM10 votes

The taric rework

experimental design philosophies to revitalize and improve league of legends in terms of game health, balance, and champion uniqueness

learning from each new roster update to improve the next so that they can create an overall better balanced game with less outliers

New champion select (even if its only used for dynamic queue right now)

Better communication of plans for reworks/ roster passes/ etcetera

Willingness to change plans based on what players prefer (IE changing their intent to balance zyra as a support, deepening tarics v neck)

Willingness to add cool champion interactions that dont affect gameplay but make things more fun (Veigar ult size scaling, master yi movespeed dance scaling)

and many, many other things that I havent the time to list. This season has been turmoil, but that is to be expected as they shift from a design style focused on individual balancing and band aid fixes to a style that tries to change entire classes to improve overall game health with the goal of ending in a more diverse and enjoyable game.

Ranked Team Builder.

I've see far less toxicity in this season than in all previous ones, mostly because of this.

Edit: I'm talking about the new champion select and not about Dynamic Queue (which I don't really care about either way.)

LiveYiOrDieHard4/7/2016, 12:38:53 PM9 votes

Honestly... I've enjoyed abusing dynamic queue (not to be confused with the new champion select - even though that part is arguably not as awful, there has been nothing positive about it for me as somebody who used to support quite often when I couldn't get my main pick)

Dynamic queue is broken as hell and should never have been put into the game in the first place and devalues the ranking system and god help you if you get matched with 4 toxic players in a premade together who have nobody else to place the blame on but you... but yeah, when you abuse it with friends it can be fun.

Kitten of Evil4/7/2016, 7:49:55 PM6 votes

I really like Aurelion Sol, the new Taric rework looks cool, and the new Champ Select interface.

So basically I like the Champion creation team but not the Gameplay and Balance team.

The Evil Spleen4/7/2016, 8:47:36 PM5 votes

I must be one of dozens who likes the dynamic queue AND champion select. I like the hextech crafting (already got the badass udyr skin out of it). I like the idea of a rotating game mode and hope they continue to add cool new ideas to it. I like shen rework, although I don't really play him. I like the adding of new lore to champions that were kind of out there and ambiguous. I look forward to more. I like seeing new items, and old items becoming more used (albeit they tend to get abused and become flavor of the month --> Zzrot's).

The only thing I am sad about is the loss of dominion. However, my group of friends wouldn't play it with me so I don't count it as TOO much of a loss.

I got one.

Polish Riot Games division got three biggest polish ISPs to fix their terribad routing through Telia's hops, which was causing 25-50% packet loss for over a year.

What made me happy about the actual game changes since (and including) the preseason patch?

Exactly nothing.

Athenes Lulu4/8/2016, 1:04:32 AM2 votes

Things I like:

  • item 3092 buffs, item 3069 nerfs, so the actual stats match the original intents of even buying either of them.
  • Windspeaker's. Though I'll just expand into Keystones in general.
  • DynamicQ (I main support and will do anything to play only support. So it's no surprise that I actually like it.)
  • Hextech Crafting (PAID content for FREE by RIOT come on)
  • ADCs are actually different, which opens up to a lot of different kinds of interesting matchups botlane.
  • Taric
  • item 3711 : perfect when I'm jungling and my support just don't know how to deal with vision
  • RIP green wards, because it makes people start thinking about how to ward instead of becoming idiots and ward as much as possible, and that it's fair for BOTH sides of the team when it comes to warding (back then, more ahead = more wards PLUS items, behind = only wards and no items, so harder to catch up)

Though I really hate the fact that games are determined on how quickly someone reacts, than how well people plan stuff out and make such plays. Mechanics > tactics :(

Zirzon4/8/2016, 1:22:18 AM2 votes

-New champions -Champ reworks -Hextech crafting -New champ select -Upcoming rotating game mode -Marksmen update (kit changes only, not balance/power level)

However, this kinda pales in comparison to the negative effects of power creep/mobility creep, and games ending more abruptly. I've never felt so helpless when behind before.

Shadow Gilgamesh4/8/2016, 2:15:34 AM2 votes

I mean... I'm glad my games aren't first pick banning his champs 3 biggest counters and then fuck the rest of us.

But it's kinda too little too late since the whole season 6 has had 5-6 permaban tier champs in every patch.

MrBuffington4/8/2016, 4:21:14 AM2 votes

Things I like:

  • Shen
  • Marksmen update gave at least some item diversity. Also made a lot of my favorite champions feel better (Ashe, MF, Caitlyn were improved. Lucian is one of my favorites, finally. Jinx is still pretty good.)
  • Fifth Age Taric's splash (also Taric in general)
  • New champ select
  • Hextech crafting
  • Overall, I think the direction of the game is headed in a good direction, even if balance is very much in flux right now. I think the mage update is going to bring a lot of interesting and, eventually, good things. The game is naturally updated in patches, making the game very patchy; assuming Riot does get around to everything, finishes updates on all champions in a timely fashion (so the Juggernauts/Marksmen aren't outdated before they finish the last class update), things should finally be in a good spot and Riot can push the game in interesting directions instead of constantly fighting old fires.

Things I dislike:

  • Not to bring out my tinfoil hat, but the whole solo-q thing seems suspect. I've been playing the game more for fun, so I'll honestly probably stick to dynamic most of the time, but I honestly don't see why solo-q is taking so long to deliver, unless they're trying to make something new/unique out of it, which is probably the most likely explanation (and probably going to make a lot of players who want just a straightforward solo-q experience pretty unhappy).
  • To mirror my point above, general game balance is in flux, lol. Towers need to be babysat, death timers suck. The typical obnoxious FotM pick that takes way too many patches to nerf.
  • Oh, and the framerate/lag bugs. Those are infuriating. I know Riot's working on them, and there have been some work-arounds that have made the game playable in the meantime, but I haven't been that salty in years.
WingsDay4/8/2016, 6:11:36 AM2 votes

Jhin Aurelion Sol is pretty cool too Ummmmm

shyv4/8/2016, 6:35:59 AM2 votes

right now, i have nothing positive to say about the state of the game. i hate dynamic queue and i don't have fun playing 9/10 games.

but you know who never lets me down? the people who work on art, music, sound effects, and lore. the stuff they release never stops impressing me.

the music they've been releasing lately is amazing and the sound effects for some of the little things, like bard when he collects a lot of meeps, pool party mundo's q sound, order of the lotus karma when she recalls.. i love that kind of stuff

not to mention warsongs, fucking loved that album

the art in game and some of the splash arts are amazing. look at elderwood hecarim and cosmic reaver kassadin's model. plus the new project cinematic that came out not too long ago, the animations in that were so smooth it looked AWESOME.

and as a leona main, i loved the targon event. seems like there is a lot more effort being put into lore now than when i first started league and lore was just "amumu is sad, he has no friends" and "riven broke her sword" idk the characters seem more human now

i don't enjoy playing the game anymore, but i love the art. you gotta give the creative teams some credit. the work they do is so impressive.

No two-week URF on April Fools, which is something I always look forward to. Now it's a few times over the weekend? If you can't get on during the weekend, fuck you.

Double-patch nerfs to Fiora, double-patch nerfs to Udyr, nerfs to their favorite items, nerds to all the popular champions and BUFFS to Irelia. That's the final straw, there.

New mastery system. They aren't perfect and sometimes have balance issues but I like them over all.

Jhin.

Taric soon.

Rift herald.

Death of every game needs to turn into a come from behind victory.

Marksman changes despite balance issues, especially itemization.

All support items feel good now. Even coin.

Hextech chests.

I am even kinda psyched to see the mage changes despite the complaints on itemization changes.

Lots of things I don't like, too, but nothing is perfect and that mid season patch sounds good.

The Rotating Games modes is definitely #1 for me. Something they should have done years ago.

I like the Keystones. I was also enraged/confused by the Mastery changes, but then came to accept them.

Hm. Illaoi (Yeah, that was preseason, but whatever) is quite fun to play, even though she's fairly OP. Jhin's pretty cool, I love the new champ select, keystone masteries, I liked how they centralized the game servers. And hextech crafting. YES, hextech crafting is amazing.
