Support Main Question

I want to climb in ranked like everyone else. However, I am having a couple problems. The biggest one being careless carries. So we get through champ select and laning couldn't be better. The carry gets fed and the outcome of the game is leaning in our favor. Then it starts to happen. The carry is just a powerhouse monster who wants to gobble up everything and anything to increase itself. They will solo push a lane with minimal to no vision all the way to the enemies second or even first tower. Even when asked kindly to just lay off a bit and come back to the team. I get ignored or they'll listen but, all of a sudden a fresh minion wave appears and they're off again. Next thing they know, 3 people appear and drop some elbows on them.

The second one being... People who want to go for kills over pushing for objectives. Far too many times am I on a team where we have more kills but, less towers- etc. and when we lose they don't seem to understand why. When I try to make a call, no one seems to acknowledge me. It's whoever has the most kills that people follow.

Any advice on how to get people to listen to me as a support rather than be pushed aside?

1: you should follow your adc if it is by themselves, in support its up to you to make sure your adc doesn't die. This could be done by warding the bushes in river, and if the enemy is coming down ping. This way you don't even have to be by them to help them if you want to help the rest of your team.

2: I don't really know... if your team won't listen then there isn't much you can do as a support. If you are having this problem often try playing sone supports that can clear waves, i.e brand, xerath, lux. So even if YOU aren't pushing the wave, the minions will.

EDIT: I don't play ranked... but I main support. Hope this helps xD

negative. Don't ever wander away from the rest of your team because "muh adc is dere". Call them in, tell them they're about to get ganked. Watch the get ganked. Watch them rejoin the team.

If you don't feel like following the ADC around everywhere, and everyone else is grouped up, just ping for assistance. Also, ask in chat for everyone to group up (don't solo out one person). Hopefully everyone gets the point and they'll start pressuring the ADC to join up. As a support, you probably won't get listened to unless you're an initiator, where they'll listen to you in initiating fights, even then, I find junglers making big calls. Honestly, you just usually won't UNLESS you go around pinging when nobody else is. Like if everyone is sitting around farming that enemy jungle when Dragon is up, just ping that thing and remind them about it and your team will flock to it like a fresh pizza.

If my ADC is bad then I find my teams true "carry" in the teamfight phase and support the hell out of them.

Whoever is the most fed coming out of the laning phase is now who you protect.

I had a ranked game that started really badly, espcially for the ADC but our weakness cause the enemy bot lane to push and after a skirmish and the loss of my adc my jungle came in for a gank, I supported hard and got them a double kill.. they proceeded to hard carry the game from there. I basically abandoned the adc at that point and started roaming with the jungler.

During the laning phase you can try to modify your ADCs aggression with polite suggestions. "turn down the aggression a bit they have more damage atm", " focus on farming for a bit". Also ask the jungler for a gank if you can, doesn't have to get kills just to get the pressure off.
