I have to be honest soraka is such a crappy support for carries at low elo

If your ADC is good then yeah soraka might be pretty cool since she has global ult and stuff, but if your ADC is bad she pretty much becomes semi useless. I can think of so many more champions who can tank, be useful, and outplay soraka like Braum, Blitzcrank, Thresh, prob sona, TARIC. Like if the enemy team has 3 of your players dead and is pushing lanes and you have soraka and someone else alive, youre less likely to survive that fight than if you had a real support.

If you're a support main below plat you should be playing supports like Annie Brand Zyra They can carry if your adc is trash and half the time they usually are. Also they scale well with CS which is important because in lower elos you're going to be having to clear waves because people generally are very bad at pushing lanes back or don't understand the importance or just don't look at their maps.

What he said, except maybe not as harshly. But an offensive support is really useful since they impose a level of threat to zone out the enemy and allow your ADC to get nice and fed off of creeps. Personally, I've had great luck with Fiddlesticks in that capacity.

Nah im not a support main, I was playing nasus top. It was just frustrating that our Soraka was so useless during team fights.

I like to use blitzcrank and thresh alot. As blitz I go AP blitz, and then tank it off. item 3027 item 3116 item 3151 item 3111 item 3068 item 3075 . This build gives me roughly 330 AP, 150 armor, around 3600 health, and a little bit of magic resist (dont need too much since my burst and tank is enough to take our most AP champs.

You really just want a support with damage, the more traditional supports like Sork/Janna/Braum/Taric are great supports but unless you're a support main you're probably not going to appreciate what they have to offer and they are deceptively difficult to play properly. It's much easier just to set up a bunch of kills with tibbers or zyra in teamfights than playing a supp with no damage and hoping your team knows what it's doing. But yeah, Blitz is great.

Yeah thats true but if Soraka does her job you should win most fights before a situation like that happens.

Yeah its kind of why I said lower ELO horrible. Honestly feel even sona is better than her because sona doesnt lose her own health while healing an enemy champ and her poke is pretty strong. Plus she has a stun.

When I level up smurfs to level 30, I pick YI ADC if they have a soraka support because shes so damn irrelevant I just have to kill the ADC.

I'm not great at LOL but when soraka was free a few weeks ago I did so well I bought her afterwards. I've wracked up a handful of S ranks and it might not be carrying with Pentakills but her build is pretty simple HP, AP, and Mana item 3060 item 3504 item 3027 item 3065 item 3040 item 3069 and stock up on snacks item 2009 and as long as your adc is aggressive you can control your lane. Then with her short cooldowns you can spam Heal on your allies and Meteors on your opponents and be a game changer in the team battle. She is decent defending turrets, since her attack spells both do area dmg she can chip away multiple champs &minions together

Thats the problem though, if the enemy team semi aces your team and soraka is the only one left alive or someone else is alive, its pretty much gg. She cant hold back against an entire enemy team.

We had a game with lee sin, nasus (me), lucian, ekko, soraka

I did decent damage but they had a vayne who is a hugee nasus counter. They had three tanks too, VI, Poppy, and Malphite, Mid lane Kat (she was kind of bad).

Uh but yeah basically, Our lucian sucked so much, and soraka becomes essentially useless if the ADC sucks. Also her late game heal isnt as strong as the damage dealt by some of these champs.

No support can hold back against an enemy team late game, they don't have the wave clear (usually) to kill all the minions fast enough and can't poke down the enemy enough to force them off towers, so...... what do you do? I've started playing Alistar a bit more recently and I can headbutt someone away real quick, but it's not like I can throw the whole team back to save it. I will say that Soraka is a bit more difficult to use because she's squishy and relies more on timing her spells correctly, (she doesn't have a stun, but her silence can definitely make or break a teamfight, same for her heal, which you say doesn't do a lot, but it's keeping you alive for a second or two longer, which can really count). I personally need to work on my Soraka (and Alistar... and Bard) more for mechanics, but I will say that Soraka can stay relevant even if her ADC sucks (granted, if the ADC feeds it's tough for everyone on your team).

I prefer Tank/Engage Supports.

It's me though, not them. I just work better with aggressive engage Supports (likely because I started League out as an aggressive engage Support, so I sync with them better).

What I hate most is when I always find the Support BEHIND me. Even when I Nami or Morgana (or Lux) I'd still rather the Snare or Stun hit ME instead of my ADC. So I expect the same from my Supports. I get that you can toss a shield or a heal or a Spell Shield, and that's cool... but it really messes me up to have no Support Presence because they are a mile behind me.

With Tank/Engage they are right where I expect them to be... out in front or sneaking in the Brush ready to pounce.

It's really just a style issue. I've played with some really good Supports that only do Squish, I just play better with (and as) Tank Engage Supports.

Then you'd love my Braum...i stay between my adc and the enemy bot lane....or i'll bush sneak for a Q hit and pounce on them.

Even when i am a squishy support, i stick right near my adc...just so that i can jump into anything they may get hit by.

A truly good support will protect their good adc.

yes this, also, I had a naut support who just felt the need to dive into the enemy ADC and support on their half of the minion wave and fight them again and again. Even when they were both level 6-7 ( I was level 6), and he was level 4, he kept diving. People dont learn when the enemy team has a much stronger advantage its probably better to stay back and farm

And so many times, people dont realize farming vs diving the enemy team all out is the better option.

Beldair1 votes

Yea, but adcs also have their share of "wtf" moments.

Like when the support does a suicidal charge BACK into the enemy so their adc can live, it kinda ruins the purpose when the adc goes in too.

But i just must be a decent support since i've had some mistakes but everyone tends to make some.

But in regards to the 2-3 lvls lower than enemy, that's when i stay more passive and wait either for my adc to want to start something, jungler near by, or they try to engage.

It's hysterical to watch them try to land stuff on my stunned adc and i run away with the save as Tahm (been playing him as support lately and been doing fairly good)

fullbacks631 votes

Yep, I agree, its why I take blitz, I dont take Naut because he honestly doesnt do enough damage, and he has to GO to THEM. One of the important thinks you said is support, BEHIND you. Supports and ADCS should stick together. Honestly in bot lane ( I Dont main botlane at all), if I see the two get separated I take it to my advantage and just kill the adc or support. The time it will take for the other person to come save their ally is too long.

Its pretty similar in team fighting instances. The one guy with a gap closer will dive in and he will die so fast before the rest of the team can get there. Its why people should NOT use their gap closers at the instant of a team fight, especially if their team is far behind in walking.

Beldair1 votes

Oh Naut support can be deadly...with a shield to protect himself, a slow, knockup, and his hook which brings him to them....plus the stun from his passive... He can be a tanky nightmare.

fullbacks631 votes

I think a few months ago I found him super useful, but without items, his pre level 6 game isnt as strong as blitz.

Beldair1 votes

that's cause you are comparing him to the support nightmare of all opposing ADCs XD

I can't land her starcall to save my life and rarely am I able to snare them with my E. She's too easy to sidestep especially with the popularity of highly mobile champs. That leaves her W and her R which are great. But even since W kills you when you use it, even that requires a really good team around you.

fullbacks631 votes

And its not just you. In all elos there are skilled players who land skill shots and skilled players who evade skill shots. Essentially if both are keeping up, there will still be a 50/50 on landing those skill shots.
