Question about loading-screen borders

I don't know if i get this right If you are in Silver and above at the end of the season, you should recieve loading screen frame for the upcoming season, right?

But

At my old account I've played since march to july 2017 and got to silver, i didn't play since then, but i have no frame And my friend, who achieved gold few months before the season end got silver 1 frame instead of the golden one. So, does the activity affect this? (Both ranks were from Solo queue / Normal type of ranked)

Main Question:

If i would now just let my rank being gold 5 without playing any more ranked games would i get golden frame at the end of the season or not? thanks in advance for answer

Borders are from the previous ranked season only (so if you got a border a couple seasons ago, it'd be gone by now), and I emphasize ranked season, so ranks achieved during preseason for example don't affect border.

Additionally, borders are queue type specific, so if one got diamond in ranked flex but gold in solo/duo in the previous season, they'd have a diamond border in SR normals (unranked queues tend to use your best border from any mode), a gold border in solo/duo, and diamond border in ranked flex.

Certain behaviour punishments can also result in not receiving ranked rewards, including borders.

Assuming no behaviour issues, if you achieve gold 5 now and don't play any more, you'll have a gold border in that queue next season.
