Voice Chat

Ask Riot: Movie? Voice? Item Sets?

So, 2 years ago Riot made a post saying they would be working on implementing voice chat into the game. Since then, I've seen nothing except in-party voice chat. In-party voice chat is nice, but it doesn't exactly accomplish what many were hoping for when asking for voice chat. There are ways to implement it without dealing with people you find unpleasant. For instance, having a mute feature or having it to where you can leave anytime or even better making it to where you have to have honor level 2 in order to use it. I find that voice chat would be very helpful as people are more likely to react to people speaking than little pings on the map. This is just my opinion, but I feel it reflects my experiences with league precisely.

Edit: Also, we can have it where you report based on voice chat and can receive voice chat/honor decrease based on the amount of bans specifically in the voice chat option. I'm aware that's not how it usually works but it could be a high volume to result in action.

I've been begging for voice chat for years League is a competitive "team based" game and yet so many people whine about not wanting voice chat for some reason Ironic isn't it

Frankly the main reason I'd figure Riot doesn't want to implement it just yet is because they'd have to start monitoring voice chat and reports for it and so on which would take far more effort than their current chat moderation where they can have it be mostly automated

Well, you run into a two big problems with are.

  1. Flaming, while reports will still exist false reports would need to be taken more seriously as the system can no longer tell if it's due to voice chat or not.

  2. You can't trust this community, just like with things such as positional ranking. You can't trust the community with things they can abuse. Their are too many bad eggs, and just as quickly as the excitement for VC grows, it will fade.

Adding the honor aspect is a nice touch, but a lot of toxic people are level 2 as well. Then you also have the issue that Riot can barely support the client as is, let alone the amount of channels that it would create.

Avoiding this atm is the best option. While I do agree VC would help a ton in ranked and I'd like the feature, I don't think Riot is willing to pay the cost.

Voice modulators based on champ you're playing, that's what I want, with option to turn it on or off. That would be rad and would allow team communication and anonymity. Reksai players might get mad or happy depending tho since all she says is rarrgh.

CS:GO and Dota are one of my favorite games. Do I encounter kids/trolls/toxic ppl? Sure, in CS almost every game, in Dota not that frequent. But I have mute option and it is just natural to mute them. Majority of Boards/Reddit and maybe community as whole are against it... Casuals....
