Youmuu's Ghostblade - What is its role?

Youmuu's Ghostblade is a kind of weird item the more that I look at it. It builds out of an item that encourages early aggression item 3134 and an item that encourages a farm lane item 3093 . In addition, half of the stats that it gives do not benefit AD carries while the other half do not benefit AD assassins. For instance, AD assassins typically do not make use of attack speed or crit chance in their assassination patterns as they tend to use abilities that scale off of flat AD during their all-ins and do not auto attack champions repeatedly. Likewise, many ADCs do not benefit from having 20% movespeed unless used in conjunction with other movement speed abilities (Graves or Lucian). Also, many ADCs do not have high enough early game base damage numbers to make use of the 20 armor penetration that the item gives. Once late game comes around, many champions naturally have 80 base armor from level scaling, making the flat armor penetration not as useful. It also does not give enough crit chance or attack damage to make it a truly powerful buy for ADCs.

Since Brutalizer only builds into Youmuu's Ghostblade now, perhaps you could create two items that build out of Brutalizer. One that benefits ADCs and another that benefits AD assassins.

Well, as for the build path, it allows for bullying. You get that extra armor pen and damage with Brutalizer, and to compensate for missing CS through bullying, you get the Avarice Blade for more gold(plus crit strikes for bullying). You can also choose what to get first; so if you're a passive laner get the Avarice first for more gold, if you're aggressive get the Brutalizer.

As for late game, it still has the active buff, the crit chance, the extra movement speed for running and attack speed for also chasing, or just extra fight power. Anyway, the armor pen can actually be a lot. I mean, 100 armor, which can cost just one item(Frozen Heart or Thornmail) reduces physical damage by 50%(assuming you don't have your base armors, which you obviously do).

So let's take Maokai or Poppy at level 18 with just base armors. 96.72 armor. That's about 48% physical damage reduction. Remove 20 of that armor and its now reduced to 42% reduction.

So, you remove 6% reduction from Maokai or Poppy, who have the most base armor in the game. So that's probably like 35%-ish reduction on say, an average ADC with the armor pen. Plus you get the active for more movespeed and attack speed, plus you get the crits, the passive 30 damage, and the CDR for those AD assassins or ADC casters like Lucian or Caitlyn.
