Why did Master Yi need that buff in this patch?

Ok so this is going to be a complaint about how op is in low elo (I'm not sure how it is up in higher elo).

This complaint is based on my most recent game in ranked where everybody on my team won their lanes. Most of us were fed and were in a good position the entire game. We had pushed all lanes to the inhibitors but couldn't take them and eventually lost because of a certain someone. That's right, it was Yi. The entire enemy team had negative kds and we had gotten 2 barons and 1 elder and 1 mountain drake by the end of the game. The fact that Master Yi can just press Q a few times to ace our team and then push the entire mid lane all the way down to the nexus is just unnecessary. His healing was faster than any damage we could put out together as a team no matter what we did.

So that game made we wonder,"Why did Yi need a buff in the first place?" He was in a good spot (again talking low elo) before 8.11 and now he's just basically unstoppable even with tier 2 baron buff and 1 elder dragon buff. I don't understand why this was thought to be ok. I want my lp back.

Doesn't really matter if Yi is "OP" in low elo because you don't balance games around low elos.

A higher tier player who plays Master Yi shouldn't suffer because a large amount of lower tier people don't know how to play around Master Yi, unlike other people at high tier. This is basically "git gud", but I'm trying to be more polite and less pretentious. It's, basically, a problem on your end and I hope you figure out how to improve.

Idk what all this talk about low elo is...

When he is tier two on op.gg out of five tiers.

We also have nimbus and more true damage on him because of item 3095 if someone wanted to.

He can also go more bursty because of the new dominion rune.

Before this patch, Yi was only slightly over 50% win rate in Bronze, Yi was 50% in Silver, and then <50% for all elo bracket above. There was even a time when Yi had <50% win rate for ALL elo brackets.

"YI is OP in low elo" is just a dead meme. He hasn't been OP in low elo for at least 4 seasons already, given Riot has been balancing him around being 50% in even the lowest elo and outright garbage in anywhere outside of that, and you wonder why he was considered a troll pick in high elo and there is virtually 0 Challenger Yi mains (there is only like 1 in the entire world or something).

Yi will probably get nerfed back into obscurity in a couple days, because no one wants him out of the bin I suppose. But then again, people will keep on complaining about him regardless how well or how bad he's doing anyway, because there's the set-in-stone perception that he's a nightmare to low elo, even though a look at the stats often tells a very different story. Hell, Yi was still complained about during the time when he had 47% win rate in Bronze and 43% win rate in Diamond, because why not, so yeah.

Yi is a hyper carry (and one of the few champions deserving of that title) who excells at dueling and slaughtering his way through disorganized teams.

In his case, the answer really is "just CC him", because even a fed yi melts in a second or two if you smack him in the face with a stun.

From the sounds of things, you deserved to lose. I know that's hard to hear, but it's true. Probably the most important skill in League is knowing how, and when, to close out games. From the sound of things you guys didn't play that game-ending stage effectively, allowed Yi to get fed, and then stroll through a disorganized low elo team.

In Bronze Yi single-handedly can carry games for dopey teams. Nasus can as well but he doesn't come with nearly as much inherent cheese that Yi has for negating CC.

Meanwhile Corki , Lux , Kaisa , Ornn , and Ziggs are trash and still need buffs.

Its funny.

I can't climb out of gold because the people here don't know how to not feed a damn Yi or Udyr.

Every time they're in a game I sigh. Why? Because every game when the enemy team has them they get fed. Then what can I do about it? Nothing.

Basically all ADCs.

Yi isn't unique in that regard.
